    Product Innovator (Actuarial)

    Role Purpose 

    • The Product Innovator will have the responsibility to ensure Myriad remains a market-leading offering and ensuring that our product offering is well understood by our sales channels. This achieved by:
    • Producing innovative product marketing content
    • Engaging with advisors and sales channels to understand the competitive landscape
    • Continuously reviewing the Myriad positioning by identifying key product and pricing changes to remain competitive

    Requirements

    • Microsoft Excel
    • VB scripting
    • SQL (where applicable)

    Responsibilities and work outputs 

    • Analyse competitor products and pricing by using different mechanisms like technical guides and quotes
    • packages. To document the findings for consumption by our various sales support roles. To communicate these findings in an effective manner to various stakeholders using different media.
    • Source and analyse competitor products and pricing models to provide insight into product and pricing models.
    • Analyse data from various sources to assess completeness and accuracy, identifying potential errors and irregularities, to ensure accuracy of insights and analysis.
    • Perform statistical investigations, modelling and data analysis using specialised software, to support the actuarial team.
    • Assess data and build statistical models to make predictions, conduct cost-benefit analyses or develop risk projections based on a variety of factors.
    • Prepare reports and present insights derived from analyses, to support decision-making and inform appropriate actions through various options and scenarios.
    • Provide technical actuarial support to the actuarial team and internal stakeholders to support various initiatives.
    • Provide authoritative, expertise and advice to clients and stakeholders, especially sales support. The role will involve some level of travel to different parts of South Africa to support sales channels.
    • Build and maintain relationships with clients and internal and external stakeholders.
    • Deliver on service level agreements made with clients and internal and external stakeholders in order to ensure that client expectations are managed.
    • Make recommendations to improve client service and fair treatment of clients within area of responsibility.
    • Participate and contribute to a culture which builds rewarding relationships, facilitates feedback and provides exceptional client service.
    • Conduct relevant research to inform assumptions, projections and advise provided to the business, and to develop own expert opinion.PEOPLE

    • Continuously develop own expertise in terms of professional, industry and legislation knowledge.

    Experience and Qualifications

    • Degree in Actuarial Sciences and good progress with actuarial examinations (preferable)
    • Honours degree in Actuarial Science (preferable)
    • 1-2 years' experience in a life insurance role (preferable)
