    Product Manager - Rare Diseases

    JOB PURPOSE:

    • Responsible for all marketing related activities of the RD portfolio nationally for registered products- Aldurazyme, Cerezyme, Elaprase, Fabrazyme and Myozyme.
    • Responsible for coordinating all Disease Awareness activities for the existing RD portfolio as well as pipeline products (where applicable).
    • Responsible for supporting all RD related activities for other countries within perimeter
    • Responsible for development and implementation of innovative brand and marketing strategies on an annual basis, aligned with global strategies.
    • Responsible for developing and presenting marketing business plan (strategy) per product and portfolio on an annual basis.
    • Together with the Commercial Manager, being responsible for creating and executing product tactical plans within specified time frames via the sales force and to measure quantitatively and qualitatively thereafter.
    • Together with the Commercial Manager and Healthcare Access Coordinator, be responsible to deliver patient accruals and sales as per the target for the RD portfolio annual budgets.
    • Work closely with the Healthcare Access Coordinator
    • Together with the Commercial Manager, establish appropriate targeting and segmentation strategies.
    • Together with Market Access team, support market access related activities for the RD portfolio in South Africa
    • Liaise with relevant staff in medical, regulatory affairs, external affairs, sales and other functions to ensure that RD business goals are met
    • Participate in local and international congresses and meetings relevant to Sanofi Genzyme Rare Diseases
    • Work closely with Commercial Manager and Medical to build, develop and maintain KOL advocacy

     

    JOB DIMENSIONS:

    • Achieve sales targets, profit contribution and market share growth for portfolio products
    • Responsible to manage the A&P spend for all RD activities on a monthly basis and ensure all spend is within the budget allocated.
    • Achieve BOI for specified Sanofi Genzyme portfolio for the budgeted financial year
       

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

    • Marketing and promoting all registered Sanofi Genzyme Rare Disease products
    • Identifying and developing strong, proactive, thought-leading physicians
    • Build effective, long-term relationships with key stakeholders and opinion leaders
    • Develop educational and promotional material for our products
    • Developing further commercial potential for the portfolio, competitive differentiation and defence
    • To prepare briefs to advertising agencies as and when required to select the most effective campaign via market testing of concept and message
    • Plan and execute CPD and journal club meetings to raise disease and product awareness
    • Participate in local and international meetings where Sanofi Genzyme is present, together with Key Opinion Leaders and/or customers.
    • Work with Market Access to ensure optimal access to Sanofi Genzyme RD portfolio with private and state funders.
    • Work closely with personnel in medical, regulatory affairs, external affairs, sales and other functions to ensure that RD business goals are met
    • Work cross functionally to have a One Sanofi approach to support the business
    • To maintain and improve product knowledge of the salesforce and to continually update knowledge on the products, competitors and therapeutic areas
       

    JOB-HOLDER ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:
    Education:

    • University degree- science or business qualification desirable
    • Post graduate scientific/business qualification advantageous

    Relevant Experience:

    • Min 3 years marketing and/or sales experience in the pharmaceutical industry essential
    • Existing relationships with key thought leaders within Rare Diseases or other Specialty Care portfolios desirable
    • Previous experience in working with patient associations
    • Pharmaceutical experience in both state and private sector
