    Professional Officer: Planning

    •   A relevant tertiary qualification, first degree/BTech in Town Planning/City and Regional Planning or equivalent
    •  2 years’ practical experience in the field of city and regional town planning or related fields
    •  Knowledge of city and regional planning and development theory, spatial planning concepts and local and international best practice is required
    •  Proficient at the level of professional town planning to initiate and deal with spatial planning issues across all scales
    •  Good analytical and interpretive skills and the ability to develop creative solutions to complex problems
    •  The ability to mediate between different sectors land use requirements, socio-economic objectives and existing policy and legal frameworks when compiling spatial plans, strategies, policies, guidelines and standards.

    Key Performance Areas:

    •  Assist with the development of sector based spatial plans, strategies, policies, guidelines and implementation tools
    •  Provide input and guidance to public development proposals
    •  Contribute towards the preparation of strategies and policies for Community Services and Health Facilities
    •  Prepare and provide planning expertise, input and guidance to development applications
    •  Support processes relating to the preparation of plans, strategies, policies and guidelines
    •  Facilitate the participation of relevant stakeholders in the identification, development and adoption of spatial plans, strategies, policies and guidelines
    •  Collect, analyse and interpret sectorial data relevant to the Community Services and Health Development programme
    • Motivate, influence and manage project budgets and expenditure.
