    Programme Manager: Digital

    We have 2 roles:

    Programme Manager: Digital & Selfhelp Channels
    Programme Manager: Digital Products & Services

    Mission/ Core purpose of the Job:  

     

    • The Programme Manager will oversee all the projects and programmes in the Digital Channels/Products & Services Portfolios. This includes Plan, Govern and oversee the successful delivery of outputs in the approved portfolio, as well as taking products to market

    Key Performance Areas: 
    Stakeholder engagement:

    • Facilitate workshops and meetings with internal and/or external stakeholders
    • Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders of projects
    • Build relationship with project executive sponsors and/or project owners to ensure speedy resolution of escalations.

    Manage the programme throughout the programme lifecycle: 

    • Understand and articulate the programme sponsor's strategic direction
    • Review the existing programmes and launch new programmes aligned to strategic direction, as required 
    • Produce a future view of the business area impacted by the programmes on the people, systems, structures, culture and processes changes
    • Define the programme governance and controls
    • Define and confirm the programme scope with relevant stakeholders 
    • Conduct programme planning, give input into and integrate project plans and monitor programme progress against plan
    • Allocate and manage resources to the programme and across projects
    • Co-ordinate procurement requirements for the programme
    • Manage the programme budget
    • Report programme progress (with recommendations for Risk Management and Issue Resolution)
    • Co-ordinate change management to support successful execution of the programme
    • Manage and resolve risks and issues
    • Co-ordinate project integration points and interdependencies
    • Approve (or reject) change requests per delegation of authority
    • Recommend on project/programme launch readiness 
    • Manage Stakeholder engagement and communication
    • Validate deliverables (outputs) to quality standards and the programme’s “outcome” with relevant stakeholders
    • Oversee programme reviews after each programme launch, and feedback of lessons learned to relevant stakeholders
    • Ensure project risks are identified and mitigation plans are put in place
    • Facilitation of Go to Market plans across multiple channels

    Facilitate the creation and maintenance of minimum key programme documentation: 

    • Programme scope
    • Programme Business Case 
    • Programme Organisation
    • Delivery Strategy 
    • Human Resources Plan
    • Stakeholder Mapping
    • Stakeholder Engagement Strategy
    • Programme Plan
    • Programme Risk Register
    • Programme Issue Log
    • Change Management Strategy
    • Training Plan
    • Closure Plan including Lessons Learned   

    Encourage and support skills development:

    • Actively contribute to the company's project/programme management community by running internal training on project/programme management methodology
    • Give input into use of project/programme management methodology at communities of practice
    • Develop and mentor talent and those participating in the learnership programme

    Agile projects

    • Guide the team and organisation on how to use Agile/Scrum practices and values to delight customers.
    • Guide the team on how to get the most of our self-organisation.
    • Guide the team on self-organising to fill in the intentional gaps left in the Agile/Scrum frameworks.
    • Assessing the Scrum Maturity of the team and organisation and coaching the team to higher levels of maturity, at a pace that is sustainable and comfortable for the team and organisation.
    • Facilitating getting the work done without coercion, assigning, or dictating the work.
    • Supporting and educating the Product Owner, especially on grooming and maintaining the product backlog.

    Leadership 

    • Removing impediments or guiding the team to remove impediments by finding the right personnel to remove the impediment.
    • Building a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised without fear of blame, retribution, or being judged, with an emphasis on healing and problem-solving.
    • Facilitating discussion, decision making, and conflict resolution.
    • Assisting with internal and external communication, improving transparency, and radiating information.
    • Providing all support to the team using a servant leadership style whenever possible and leading by example.

    Governance

    • Ensure relevant project governance is identified and communicated on the projects
    • Adhere to Programme Management Office governance frameworks are adhered to.

    Reporting

    • Compile relevant project & portfolio reporting
    • Ensure Project & Portfolio management tool is updated as and when require

    Manage the Project Manager direct reports

    • Lead and oversee the work and production of deliverables by the Project Manager team
    • Manage the appraisal process for the Project Manager team
    • Manage the performance of the Project Manager team against defined expectations and measures
    • Manage the career development of the Project Manager team by giving ongoing performance and developmental feedback
    • Report on team performance

    Minimum Requirements - 

    Education: 

    • Minimum of 3-year degree/diploma in relevant discipline
    • A post-graduate management qualification will be advantages
    • Fluent in English

    Certification in -

    • Project Management Professional (PMP) or PRINCE2 Practitioner is essential
    • Program Management Professional (PgMP) or equivalent advantageous 
    • Agile is essential

    The following minimum experience is essential
    Minimum of 10 years’ experience - 

    • Minimum 6-8 years' managing projects end to end using PMBOK/PRINCE2 methodologies is essential
    • Minimum 3 years' managing programmes end to end using PMBOK/PRINCE2 methodologies is essential
    • Experience in managing project/programme teams is essential
    • Proven track record of project and programme delivery is essential
    • 3-5 years’ experience in taking projects to market is essential. 
    • Broad experience of Benefit Realisation Management is beneficial
    • Working experience in Agile Digital Channel Delivery environment is essential

    Working/project experience advantage:

    • Experience in managing organisational change projects is essential
    • Understanding of technical project requirements is advantageous

    Agile Experience (Essential) 

    • At least 3 years’ experience as a Scrum Master for a software development team that was diligently applying Scrum principles, practices, and theory is essential
    • Knowledge of other Agile approaches: XP, Kanban, Crystal, FDD, etc.
