    Property Underwriter

    The main purpose of this role is to support the corporate property business unit to grow and develop in line with the Groups growth plan. You will Underwrite new and renewal business within the South Africa team based in Sandton, South Africa. You will assist in development of the portfolio, market profile and producer relationships through regular liaison with brokers and/or clients and collaboration with business development resources. We encouraged you to deliver a high-quality service within Chubb’s underwriting guidelines.
    Key Responsibilities:

    • Assist with management and development of producer relationships, our profile within the market and the portfolio.
    • Maintain accurate underwriting and policy records within agreed underwriting procedures and standard methodologies.
    • Work within the framework of Chubb ethical, compliance, underwriting policies and service standards.
    • Focus on retention of business and new business development objectives without compromising underwriting discipline.
    • Give to meeting the production and underwriting margin financial objectives and business plans.

    Desired Skills and Experience

    Knowledge & Experience

    • Grade 12 (Matric).
    • Industry related qualification (AIISA or similar) is advantageous
    • OR Keen to embark on, or working towards completion of the AIISA
    • Good communication & negotiation skills.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
    • Encouraged to undertake “on the job” training
    • Proficient English - Written and Spoken
    • A minimum of 2-years mid-market/corporate property underwriting experience,
    • Ambitious with ability to make decisions and work on one’s own initiative.
    • Social capital within the industry is an advantage as we source broker produced business.
    • FAIS accredited representative having completed regulatory qualifications is desirable.
    • Good knowledge of property underwriting.
    • Driven, with high-energy, dedication, enthusiasm and ambition. A forward-thinking, intelligent, capable underwriter with a strong technical underwriting background in Financial Lines.
    • Customer orientated manner and approach focussed on positive relationship building. Good reasoning skills, & ability to negotiate
    • Other skills required are the ability to work as part of a team, demonstrating initiative and problem solving skills whilst working under pressured time constraints & delivering within regulations.
