    Resident Engineer

    Job description

    Job ID 2017-13329

    Job Responsibilities:

    Golder Associates is seeking a Resident Engineer to oversee a contract from quality assurance perspective, inspection of the work on-site and ensuring that the design is implemented as per the engineering specifications. This is a six months fixed term position.

    RESPONSIBLITIES

    • Provide construction oversight for design adherence and quality control, expediting of project submittals / clarifications / issues related to the design;
    • Evaluate project schedules and modifications, field planning and coordinating of design activities;
    • Review of contractors Quality Control Plans and Construction Method Statements;
    • Inspection of Hold Points;
    • Handling of technical queries and resolutions;
    • Construction materials approvals;
    • Keeping of details records of all construction related activities including inspection records, request for information, design changes, non-conformances, lab results etc;
    • Independent checks of tests and surveys;
    • Review of as-built information and updating of drawings;
    • Compilation of construction close-out report;
    • Attendance of all site meetings be it technical, quality, progress or H&S;
    • Communicate frequently with engineering contractors, & clients;
    • Assist with project safety, equipment/material receipt inspection, and quality assurance measures.

    Qualifications

    Job Requirements:

    • An Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, or Construction Management;
    • Ability to read / understand drawings and specification, understand construction methods and procedures, effectively communicate and coordinate with project team, recognize and relate cost impacts to modification, and provide input for construction status, schedule, and project activities;.
    • AutoCAD; MS Word; MS Excel; MS PowerPoint; MS Outlook; MS Projects; Google Earth Pro; Adobe Acrobat Pro.
    • 8 years’ experience in mainly civil construction with experience in concrete, piping, earthworks, HDPE lining and geotechnical experience.
    • Must be an effective communicator (personal, lead meetings, phone, writing, email; etc);
    • MS Word, MS Excel (Advanced), MS PowerPoint, MS Outlook , MS Projects
