Senior Mining Engineer at Krypton Mining

Main Purpose of Job

• Lead underground and open pit mining planning activities, including mine designs, schedules, operating and capital cost estimates. From part of the owner’s team and manage onsite technical teams.

Desired Qualifications

• B. Eng. Mining or B Tech Mining, Mining (Essential / Minimum)
• Mine Managers certificates(advantageous)
• Business or Management Qualification (advantageous)
• Registration with the Engineering Council of SA (ECSA) is advantageous

Experience

• +5 years Coal mining experience        
• +5 years (post qualification) mining experience, covering both production and mine planning environments with exposure to resource planning and scheduling
• Experience in drilling & blasting is required
• Experience in developing sophisticated models in Excel is essential
• Literate in Mine Planning Software packages (Deswik or Xpac). Advanced user experience will be advantageous

Key Performance Areas:

• Undertake open cast / open mine planning activities, including mine designs, schedules, operating and capital cost estimates
• Ensure that plans are efficiently designed to optimize economic value safely
• Ensure that the methodology and tools used to undertake mine planning, ore reserve estimates and analysis are appropriate to attain the level of accuracy to meet the client requirements at minimum cost and comply with the appropriate legislation / codes
• Develop effective monitoring and reporting systems.
• Undertaking continued reporting improvement initiatives in conjunction with plant management;
• Manage onsite technical and support teams
