    Senior Network Engineer

    Main targets of function:

    • Manage all group wide networks across ERGA. Responsibility to address business as usual monitoring and performance tuning of infrastructure and ERP System. 
    • Continue to coordinate with application and service owners the migration of equipment from hardware which is no longer supported to new supported hardware. 
    • Responsible for setting up new hardware in a test lab.
    • Perform activities required to plan, deploy, manage, support, and scale a mission-critical 24x7 IP network in a rapidly expanding environment. 
    • Ensuring up-time and availability by providing a professional service at all times. Contributing to strategic and tactical decision making and guidance though sharing of Intellectual Property.

     

    Minimum Requirements  

    •    Matric
    •    A+ N+
    •   Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) with 5 years’ experience and exposure in planning, implementing, installing, configuring, operating and troubleshooting medium-size route and switched networks, including implementation and verification of connections to remote sites in a WAN
    • Minimum 5 years in a distributed environment
    • Minimum 3 Years in Mining & Engineering Industry
    • Minimum 2 Years in SD-WAN and WANOP Technologies
    • Basic to Advance Multi-Vendor Wifi Experience
    • 7 years Experience preferred
    • A Proven Background of 7 years IT network Support Environment
    •  A solid understanding of Windows OS and AD 3 Years
    •  Infrastructure availability monitoring
    • A general understanding of computer and internet security.
    • CCNP- Cisco Certified Networking Professional
    • CCNA-Security
    • CCDP-Advantageous
    • Any SDWAN Qualification Advantageous
    • IT degree advantageous
    • Cisco VoIP
    • ITIL
    • MCP or equivalent
    • VMWARE Configuration and Administering
    • DNS and AD knowledge
    • A good understanding prime for config Backup 

     

    Main tasks / responsibilities:

    • Design and deploy functional networks (LAN, WLAN, WAN, SDWAN)
    • Resolving issues that tiers of support have escalated
    • Traveling to African Countries
    • Configure and install software, servers, routers and other network devices
    • Monitor network performance and integrity
    • Resolve issues tiers of support have escalated by troubleshooting cloud and local infrastructure
    • Automate tasks and monitor their effectiveness
    • Mentor team members on technical issues
    • Create, oversee and test security measures (e.g. access authentication and disaster recovery)
    • Communicate with users when needed
    • Maintain complete technical documentation
    • Suggest improvements to network performance, capacity and scalability
    • Ensure that network services are monitored and proactively managed to required service levels and administered for the business.
    • Management of business expectation and perception.
    • Ensure that delivered systems meet acceptance criteria and that such systems are capable of meeting Service Level Agreement.
    • Initiate any actions necessary to improve or maintain levels of service
    • Provide recommendation to the business to improve system delivery as well as proactively manage services to ensure failure is pre-empted and resolved before becoming critical.
    • Review and approves changes to the planning, design, configuration and management of the supported infrastructure via change management procedures.
    • Ensures all required service management information is collected, recorded and reported for example, performance, capacity information etc.
    • Interface and interact with other teams, to develop co-operative working across all boundaries
    • To perform all levels of support for day to day operations
    • Updating of incidents on incident management platform
    • To own and ensure successful on-going delivery of services after project completion
    • To take accountability for timely delivery of project
    • To Evaluate, implement and train new technologies to enhance the service offering of the network managed services
    • To plan, implement and deploy network across the multiple platform and technologies
    • To implement network features and functions.
    • To design, configure and roll out sites.
    • Install, configure, operate, and troubleshoot medium-size route and switched networks, including implementation and verification of connections to remote sites in a WAN.
    • Plan, implement, verify and troubleshoot local and wide-area enterprise networks and work collaboratively with specialists on advanced security, voice and wireless solutions.
    • Be able to diagnose hardware and software related issues on Cisco equipment
    • Carry out required routine collection of information and records, taking action on known or moderately complex problems, advising superiors and specialists only when their attention is required.
    • Continuous broadening of own technical skills and problem solving
    • Engaging in formal and informal knowledge transfer
    • Regional and International travel.
