    Senior Planner

    Position Summary:

    Ensure the effective planning and execution of the short, medium- and long-term production requirements based on business demand forecasts to meet set customer service and inventory turns (holding) objectives.

    Education & Experience:

    • Degree in Supply Chain Management or related field of study
    • 5 years’ experience in a planning role preferably in the FMCG environment

    Skills:

    • Highly computer literate in MS Office suite – Word, Excel and Power Point
    • Strong interpersonal skills
    • Good team player
    • Self-motivated and the ability to work without supervision
    • Takes full ownership of their realm of tasks and responsibilities
    • Ability to work under pressure and at speed
    • Experience in ERP systems required (AS400 experience will be an advantage)
    • Must have high attention to detail without compromising sense of urgency
    • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills, able to think methodically and analytically
    • Exceptional organizational and time management skills to meet frequent deadlines
    • Ability to work effectively with and through others to get done what needs to be done
    • Must have a sense of urgency
    • Driven for results, committed to meeting deadlines, ambitious and dedicated, taking on full responsibility and ownership of the position

    Essential Duties and Responsiblities:

    • Co-own, with the Factory Supply Chain Manager, drives to develop supply planning excellence especially implementation of global and local continuous improvement initiatives.
    • Responsible for monitoring the demand forecast and strategically decides, based on the FOP download, how much and when to plan production for.
    • Ensure the production plan is in line with the factory capacity daily vs weekly vs monthly.
    • Also be on the lookout for any increases or decreases to ensure immediate actions are taken to ensure correct stock levels are maintained and the company needs, and sales demands are catered for without building excess inventory at cost to company or to prevent out of stock instances.
    • Assists from time to time with the WIP (bulk) planning role.
    • Issue production orders and identify the priorities of such production orders based on the strategic value of product, availability of stock, ship dates of promotions or new launches, in order to meet the financial needs and targets of the company.
    • Work closely with and plan TPM’s (Third Party Manufacturers) to build and effectively manage finished goods supply which is produced by TPM’s.
    • Monitor end and effective dates on bills of materials monthly and do necessary changes according to latest stock versus forecasts and liaises with Packaging Engineering regarding pending changes.
    • Gives status and latest updates to Development Project Meetings on planning, procurement and production issues to ensure on time ship of promotions and new product launches.
    • Updates out-of-stock report on a daily basis.
    • Responsible to discontinue one-time promotion products after shipped on system.
    • Identifies finished goods on low stock, driven by monthly SPI document by means of updating the Production Schedule daily and lease with bulk manufacturing and production on the priorities, and procurement on the orders to be expediting for materials required for production.
    • Liaises with assembly supervisors daily on production orders, follows up on progress of production and re-prioritizes production needs if necessary.
    • Adhere to all Company Policies & Procedures and Instructions which form part of the Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) Management System of the Company.
    • Assist in the training of personnel within the Planning Department when required.
    • Implement core planning best practices using available ERP platforms, applying clearly defined weekly deliverables and planning parameters [e.g. frozen windows, MPS, MRP, Finite Scheduling, DRP where applicable].
    • Establish and refresh monthly/quarterly validated dynamic statistical safety stock for each material and optimize A, B, C run strategy to impact inventory, CS, SKU portfolio objectives.
    • Send updated forecasts to relevant TPM’s (Third Party Manufacturers) on a monthly basis.
    • Liaise with Packaging Engineering, Technical Manager, Quality, NPD and Marketing on a regular basis on development, progress and priorities to new launches and promotions.
    • Monitor changes of materials (BOM updates) and manage the run-out of materials which are being phased out to minimize the value of dispositions of materials.
    • Proactively drive excess and obsolete inventory management through agreed avenues in the business to ensure timely action to meet inventory turns targets.
    • Timely compiling of monitoring and tracking reports as agreed with the planning manager and follow through on corrective actions, providing appropriate communication to all stake holders.
    • Actively participate in year-end physical stock counts.
    • Must be prepared to work overtime as and when requested/required to do so.
    • Respond to the instructions of his/her superior determined by priority of workload of the day and supporting the business needs by performing any other reasonable duties as directed by superior.
