    Senior Specialist: Business Intelligence Medicine Analyst

    Pupose of the role:

    • To produce and deliver efficient, automated reports; evaluate data extracts and submit accurate, timeous reports to clients
    • Develop new report elements where necessary. Perform complex ad hoc analyses to answer queries from management and clients. Engage directly with Senior Management to explain findings and define strategies to meet client information expectations.
    • Produce reports of sufficiently high quality and consistency that accountability can be taken for sign-off and direct delivery to clients. Review and provide input of BI specifications and SOPs. Manage content in area according to best practices to facilitate retrieval. Engage with auditors to demonstrate that reporting SLAs have been met.

    Key performance areas of the role:

    • Work systematically with large amounts of data primarily in SAS and Oracle databases with a focus on transforming the source data into useful data models and ultimately information.
    • Systematically source and integrate external data into appropriate databases where necessary.
    • Create technical specification documents and design processes and data flow diagrams.
    • Develop key indicators and multidimensional summaries to facilitate the assessment of interventions.
    • Liaise with clinical and IT staff and management to ensure that necessary data is identified, where necessary procured, quality assured and integrated into the BI systems.
    • Conduct code reviews and participate in technical design as a member of a cross-functional team.
    • Contribute to effective data governance. This includes data quality, data management, data policies, business process management, and risk management surrounding the handling of business data.

    Qualifications and experience required for this role:

    • Analytical degree, e.g. mathematics, statistics or life sciences, or computer science, information systems.
    • 10+ years’ of relevant work experience. Post-graduate experience above Honours level can be included.
    • Healthcare and preferably medicine related subject matter expertise.

    Preference will be given to:

    • An honours degree or higher or a relevant professional BI certification.
    • Experience with development of business intelligence solutions in the healthcare environment, particularly with monitoring and evaluating managed care programmes and wellness interventions.
    • BI business analysis and system analysis skills.
    • Experience with data management, the design of data models and good SQL coding and tuning skills.
    • Experience with report design, automation and deployment.
    • Experience managing BI projects and communicating priorities and timelines.
    • Statistical analysis skills
