    SHE Specialist (1 Year Fixed-Term Contract)

    Roche Diagnostics in Midrand is seeking a SHE Specialist on a 1 year fixed-term contract to manage local health & safety systems and programs in accordance with local legislation. The role will involve providing functional support to the SHE manager, maintaining and monitoring all aspects relating to Roche Diagnostics SHE.

    Key Responsibilities
    Management of SHE Documents

    • Ensuring that the SHE Documentation procedure is implemented and entrenched.
    • Ensuring that documentation requirements for SHE management are defined to meet the requirements of the relevant codes of practice.
    • Coordination and management of SHE documentation, namely, policies, and procedures across all disciplines.
    • Aligning the Global SHE manual with regional and other technical manuals.
    • Ensuring the documentation of all SHE policies and objectives and driving of communication.
    • Ensuring that documents needed by the organization for effective planning, operation and control of its processes are in place and relevant.

    Management of Documents

    • Ensuring that record control procedures which include the definition of controls needed for the identification, storage, protection, retrieval, retention time and disposal are implemented and entrenched.
    • Ensuring that records are established and maintained to provide evidence of conformity to all codes of practice requirements and effective operations of the SHE management system.
    • Ensuring that SHE Documentation procedures are implemented and entrenched.
    • Ensuring that documentation requirements for SHE management are defined to meet the requirements of the relevant codes of practice.
    • Coordination and Management of SHE documentation, namely policies and procedures across disciplines.
    • Alingining the global SHE manual with regional and other technical manuals.
    • Ensuring that the documentation of all SHE policies and objectives and driving communication throughout the affiliate.
    • Ensuring that documents needed by the organization for effective planning, operation and control of it’s processes are in place and relevant.
    • Ensuring that the record control procedure which includes the definition of controls needed for the identification, storage, protection, retrieval, retention time and disposal are implemented and entrenched.
    • Ensuring that records are established and maintained to provide evidence of conformity to all code of practice requirements and effective operations of the SHE management system.

    Management of SHE Audits

    • Ensuring that internal/external audit procedures are implemented and entrenched.
    • Ensuring that affiliate audit schedules are developed to encompass all elements of the various codes of practice within the SHE system including legal compliance.
    • Ensuring that SHE internal audits are undertaken at agreed frequencies to establish effectiveness of systems and to entrench the ethics of continuous improvement.
    • Conducting 3rd party audits as per schedule.
    • Conducting department reviews as per agreed plan.
    • Undertaking of management reviews as per the code and practice requirements by the leadership team to demonstrate effectiveness and suitability of the SHE system.

    Management of non-conformances, Corrective and Preventative Actions

    • Ensuring that non-conformance, CAPA, procedures are implement and entrenched.
    • Generation and communication of NC and CAPA reports for SHE systems.
    • Ensuring that SHE non-conformances  and CAPA gaps are closed using the GAP management continuous improvement principles.

    COIDA reporting and Emergency Management Operations

    • Incident and Accidents Management (COIDA)
    • Work with the Occupational Health Clinic in managing emergency activities.

    Risk Management for Travel and Events

    • Ensuring that the assessment and management of employee travel and event relate risks.

    You as an ideal candidate, will have the following skills, experience and education:

    • Required Qualification: NQF7 in SHE or Associated Fields, Extension studies in SHE are preferred in addition to this.
    • Required Experience: 2-3 years SHE Management experience.
    • Required knowledge: SHE Legislation and Regulations (SA)
