Specialist: IT DevOps Engineer at Telkom

Responsible for deploying and managing applications on cloud and hosted platforms. Build DevOps pipelines in collaboration with developers, application owners, vendors, and data engineers to significant value and drive technical direction for infrastructure.

Key Deliverables / Primary Functions

• Design, build and maintain the CI/CD infrastructure and tools to deliver Horizon Cloud Service
• Design and Develop the test automation to validate the builds in the CI/CD pipeline
• Work closely with development teams to ensure that solutions are designed with customer user experience, scale/performance and operability in mind
• Working with application developers and owners to understand requirements
• Developing automated deployment and monitoring of infrastructure and applications
• Automating systems configuration and orchestration using tools, such as Ansible
• Automated creation of machine images and Containers
• Designing CI/CD pipelines to include application and security testing, and gates
• Implementation of availability, security, and performance monitoring and alerting
• Automating data resiliency and replication based on policies
• Management and operation of environments

Qualification

• 3-year Degree/ Diploma or equivalent (NQF level 6), preferably in IT

Experience

• 5 years of overall experience in professional software engineering, including CI/CD experience, hands-on experience as DevOps engineer and hands-on experience with Ansible

Certification/ Professional Registration

• DevOps accreditation or certification advantageous

Special Requirements

Exceptional experience in automating the build and management of infrastructure using native tools, open source tools, and third-party products.

• Significant experience designing and supporting development, QA, pre and production environments
• Strong coding skills in line with relevant Toolchain tools
• Experience developing collaboratively, including infrastructure as code
• Templating and automation tools for deploying and managing infrastructure and applications
• Experienced with building CI/CD pipelines preferably with native tools
