    Supply Chain Manager

    The role drives the Manufacturing and Supply Chain agenda for Sub Saharan African team by executing the regional and global supply chain strategy. The role reports to Supply Chain Director AMEA

    Overview of responsibilities:

    •  Drives the 3rd party co-packers to ensure the manufacturing/logistics/warehousing/distribution/operations set up for South Africa is executed as per business strategy
    •  Executes strategic plan for planning, manufacturing, customer services & logistics for the Sub Saharan markets
    •  Leads the associated activities, processes, people and financial requirements inorder to achieve business objectives
    •  Ensures demand and supply are aligned to deliver the business plan at optimum cost.
    •  Collaborate to deliver improved forecast accuracy and reduced inventory days, logistics costs, through the S&OP process by delivering to our customers the right product, at the right time, at the right place, with the right quality, at the right cost.
    •  Anticipates needs of the markets and responds as per defined process & guideline
    •  Respects the regulations associated with the Supply Chain activities (excise, importations, certifications etc.)
    • The role can be based either in Capetown or Johanessburg, the job holder will need to travel between locations.

    Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

    Strategic Operations

    •  With the Regional Supply Chain Director, execute a comprehensive product (Finish goods, Value Added Pack and POS) supply strategic plan, designed to support growth plans in the Cluster, which will drive optimal customer service and profitability.
    •  Establish policies, procedures, performance metrics, and resource requirements to ensure reliability, speed, convenience and best perceived value to the customer
    •  Respects the regulations associated with the Supply Chain activities (customs duty, excise, VAT, Strip Stamps aspects, importations, exportations, certifications, quality, etc.)
    •  Ensuring proper application of the regulations concerning Local Certification and Hygienic conclusions management.
    •  Keeps under control of all potential regulatory changes concerning: importation, labeling are fully conform to local requirements; agreed and implement changes, if necessary, with TRN (Technical Regulatory Network).
    •  Ensure that Third part Logistics providers (3PL) use systems applicable for inventory tracking and distribution center to operate as efficiently as possible.
    •  Assess financial and business risks associated with key operational decisions
    •  Develop high level of coordination with the Managing Director and Area Managers to achieve effective management of the product supply flow
    •  Implement and influence best practices in the disciplines of forecasting, inventory management, and logistics
    •  Manage continuous improvement of the product supply: improved customer service; faster cycles; reduction of waste and reduce delivering costs.
    •  Accountable for implementation, maintenance and review of SLA with markets and plants to clearly set role, responsibility and performance management

    Budget

    •  Ensure achievement of Cluster and markets’ objectives by preparing annual budgets and monitoring expense, capital and inventory budget
    •  Monitoring on regular base all expense and cost related to L70.

    Process Development / Management

    •  Engage with the Area Director, Area managers, Marketing, Sales and customers to continuously update the requirements specifications and improve the Planning and Customer Services processes accordingly.
    •  Engage with Cluster 3rd party co-packers to ensure high efficiency of demand and supply planning, materials and capacity availability, product quality, sustainability and safety;
    •  Scrutinize markets and competitors to maintain an updated benchmarking assessment
    •  Resolve short / medium term supply constraints (ex. quality, technical…) to deliver product on the agreed basis
    •  Implement and maintain the process to prevent and monitor write-offs including action plans for reduction and control improvement
    •  Identify and execute the ideal balance between customer service requirements, inventory optimisation, manufacturing efficiencies, including capacity planning, SKU rationalization, planning and execution
    •  Optimize the distribution network from plant to customer in order improve the service level (lead time, consumer complaint…) and reduce the cost
    •  Develop ways to reduce or mitigate carbon output that results from transporting materials or products to final customers.
    •  Controlling and monitoring the activities of 3PL (Third Party Logistics provider)

    People and Organisation

    •  Establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relations with internal/external organisations: motivate and encourage direct reports and employees working in a team environment to achieve department, and company goals
    •  Establish a process for aligning day-to-day decisions to the strategic plan.
    •  Align to cluster supply chain team priorities once objectives are determined and deploy action plans.
    •  Visualize the total process and aid in locating problem areas using process mapping, quality improvement, and visualization tools to locate, quantify, and correct root causes of problems.
    •  Perform periodic evaluations to maintain processes by gathering pertinent information, such as problem symptoms from knowledgeable sources and carrying these through to the problems, potential causes, and root causes of the problem.

    Critical Experiences for Success

    Educational /Working Requirements

    •  Bachelors in Materials/Production Engineering or BTECH. Technical equvivalent is of engineering degree is a must
    •  8-10 years of experience in FMCG/Food/Beverage industry in a manufacturing/production unit where you will have familiarity across all functions in Supply Chain including manufacturing, product line, logistics and warehousing. years experience in Supply Chain. Experience in managing co-packers will be a bonus
    •  Good financial acumen
    •  Knowledge of Supply Chain regulations and compliance in South Africa is a must
    •  Knowledge of the spirits industry is a bonus

    •  You will have a track record of managing 3rd parties and driving continuous improvement in their performance - service, quality and cost
