We reach an average of 80 million people with food assistance in around 80 countries each year. The World Food Programme office in Johannesburg is a Regional Office coordinating and supporting the delivery of humanitarian assistance to 11 Southern Africa countries including, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Namibia, Lesotho, Eswatini, Botswana, Malawi, Madagascar, Democratic Republic of Congo, Congo Brazaville.

    JOB PURPOSE

    The Talent Acquisition, Sourcing & Outreach Specialist will be based in our Johannesburg, South Africa Regional Bureau supporting the Southern Africa region. He/she will develop, gain support for, and implement the strategies needed to identify, attract, and acquire the best talent to meet WFP’s business needs in the new normal following the COVID pandemic. The ideal candidate has a deep passion for workforce diversity; constantly thinks about how to introduce new methods and ideas for attracting, identifying and engaging top talent; and successfully enlists support from the business for talent attraction, networking and workforce diversity engagement initiatives

     

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

    • Modernize talent acquisition strategies and approach by using new technologies, social media, software and networks to identify, attract, and hire the best talent in support of WFP strategic goals in the region
    • Lead Strategic Talent Acquisition Projects to reduce 'Long Lead Time', ' Improve Hire Quality' and ' Enhance Talent Diversity'
    •  Train and help to implement data-driven and proactive talent sourcing approaches, using contemporary recruitment tools & technologies and effectively use media platforms
    • Identify opportunities to expand addressable talent pool by identifying macro-level opportunities of Talent Pools drawn from demographic trends, Labour Market Analysis, Diaspora, Diversity partnership opportunities etc.
    • Improve current screening techniques, implement the use of Psychometrics and background checks on applicants and conduct training for hiring managers as needed
    • Build partnership, develop and maintain strong relationships that include outreach to schools, institutions of higher education learning, target diversity organizations, professional associations and other recruiting sources to ensure sourcing produces a strong talent pipeline
    • Improve the gender diversity and drive the improvements of talent attraction and recruitment approaches, especially to attract female candidates (with special attention on diaspora to hardship locations
    • Increase the quality of applicant flow, including both internal and external, passive and active candidates and ensure local implementation across the region
    • Identify and handle direct talent searches/handle full-cycle recruitment for some positions in the organization, particularly those that have challenges to attract diverse talent/top management levels o hard to fill positions
    • Handle recruitment projects on Roster/Talent Pipeline for across the region
    • Articulate WFP's employee value proposition to enhance visibility and reputation in key sourcing channels by carrying out impactful and targeted employer branding activities
    • Other duties as required

     

    STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    Education: Advanced university degree in Human Resources Management, Public or Business Administration, Industrial Psychology or other relevant fields

    Experience: 

    • Five or more years of postgraduate professional experience in the field of Talent Acquisition, of which at least 3 at international or regional level. Experience working as part of a multicultural and diverse team, and/or leading one.
    • Deep knowledge of the recruitment market and trends in the Southern Africa region
    • Demonstrated success developing and deploying creative, effective candidates pipeline development methodologies and effective outreach strategies
    • Structure and lead multiple talent projects simultaneously to successful completion
    • Experience in sourcing and recruiting hard-to-find profiles
    • Strong knowledge of Applicant Tracking System, technology and sourcing tools. Experience with SAP recruitment platform is highly desirable

     

    Language: Fluency (Level C) in both spoken and written English

    • Ability to leverage social media to connect with diverse communities to brand and market organisation and jobs
    • Sound theoretical understanding of HR concepts and principles with a broad knowledge of best practices, techniques and processes
    • Good communication skills with the ability to persuade, influence and adapt communication style to different situations and individuals
    • Knowledge of common business principles and processes and the ability to quickly assimilate UN/WFP specific processes and systems
    • Ability to build and maintain effective work relationship with human resources counterparts, management and staff within HQ/regional/country office
    • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
    • Ability to establish priorities, and plan, coordinate and monitor own work and those under his/her supervision. Ability to draft clear concise reports or rationale for human resources decisions

     

    SALARY & BENEFITS

    • Gross monthly salary range: R61,330-00 to R73,115-00
    • Benefits: Annual Leave, Sick Leave, Medical Insurance and Social Security

    This position is only open to South African Citizens and non-South African Citizens with Permanent Residence Permits
