    We are motivated by an ambitious purpose and inspired by the exceptional people that we work with and we are looking for a Tax Accountant to join our Financial Management team. This position will be based in Cape Town and will report to the Finance Manager // SSA & Asia.

    If you join us you’ll be responsible for

    • Preparation and review and timely submission of accurate corporate tax calculations for +-14 different companies complying with local tax requirements.
    • Calculate Deferred tax for financial statements
    • Calculate and report on provisional tax based on forecast profits for each of the companies
    • Drive highest standards of tax compliance across all existing and new territories, by ensuring timely and appropriate registrations and compliance within all jurisdictions and by upholding excellent and progressive relationships with all regulatory bodies thereby ensuring a clean tax status and annual certificates of good standing. Including Africa, Asia ,United Kingdom, Europe, Mauritius and South Africa, for both corporate tax and operational taxes.
    • Jumo engages with specialists in each country as part of set-up and ongoing tax compliance – this role will be the key interface with the in-country tax advisors ensuring that the Jumo accountants establish operational tax processes in a timely and accurate manner.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Preparation and review and timely submission of accurate corporate tax calculations for +-14 different companies complying with local tax requirements.
    • Calculate Deferred tax for financial statements / check deferred tax calculations provided by in-country specialists
    • Calculate and report on provisional tax based on forecast profits for each of the companies; review all provisional returns prepared by in-country specialist advisors
    • Assist in monthly tax reconcilliation for operational taxes (WHT, VAT, WHVAT, RCVAT, Sales tax etc) as applicable in each jurisdiction.
    • Preparation of tax related reporting and including, but not limited to: Quarterly Tax Updates across the group, Quarterly Audit & Risk Committee (ARC) tax compliance reporting, year-end tax accruals and monthly tax charges and balance sheet liabilities, annual and provisional Corp tax returns, monthly / annual submission and payment compliance across the group (VAT / RC VAT / WHT / PAYE etc)
    • Effective resolution and management of any local tax audits and findings / penalties
    • Manage 3rd party tax engagements where tax assistance is required. Research and advise on new taxes or taxes in new teritories and advise finance on more effective tax arrangements / structuring.

    Key requirements       

    • CA (SA) ideal but but part-qualification with relevant tax experience will be considered
    • 5 – 7 years of similar experience (specifically tax experience)
    • Tax qualification or tax experience e.g. in accounting firm, across a variety of taxes
