Team Leader -Equity Settlements at Nedbank Private Wealth South Africa

About the Role:

To support business objectives by managing fulfilment of requests from clients and staff in order to achieve business results with effective level of client satisfaction and risk management. The role of team leader settlements is responsible for the day-to-day management of the administration team based in Johannesburg, reporting to the head of operations stockbroking. The team is responsible for the settlement and reporting of equities (listed and unlisted), bonds, derivatives, offshore investments, unit trusts and cash. All client transactions and positions are maintained on the single investment platform (SIP) which are reconciled and balanced daily to the source systems. The team provides support to the retail stockbroking and wealth businesses.

The successful applicant will be a highly motivated, self-driven individual who functions well in a high pressured environment, has good communication skills, is capable of multi-tasking and skilled in resolving reconciliation differences. The position requires interaction with branch managers; wealth managers, portfolio managers, admin assistants, finance, and IT. A strong track record of settlement experience (including BDA) is essential with the necessary skills to ensure an efficient operating model.  

Job Specifications:

• SIP reconciliation and balancing. 
• Overseeing all aspects of equities settlements, including scrip lending and borrowing, share and BEE schemes and resolution of queries.
• Bonds, EDM and IRC administration and settlements.
• Unit trust, currency trades and offshore investments
• Responsible for the reconciliation of the general ledger accounts such as custody holdings of equities and bonds, managing the relationships with the JSE settlement authority, various BEE share schemes, SSA and NSS outsourcing, loading and control over partner codes, month-end client statements and tax reporting.
• Further to the above, the Head of Settlements oversees the branch helpdesk, timeous processing of service requests and updating of master data records
• Manage the administration team ensuring timeous outputs whilst maintaining a high quality standard, driving continuous improvement. Developing a talent pool through career conversation and retention. Ensure that transformation targets are met. 

Requirements

• Commerce Degree/ National Diploma or equivalent
• Matric
• JSE equity settlement officer exam
• JSE bonds settlement officer exam
