    Technical Specialist (Digital Delivery)

    Technical Principal (Digital Engineering)

    Primary Position Purpose

    This position will support SMEC Cape Town’s Structures Team with the digital delivery of their transportation and bridge projects. This support will involve direct input into the digital delivery production process as well as leading and co-ordinating a team of modellers working on major local and international transportation projects.

    The Technical Specialist will require technical expertise and experience in modelling and the multi-disciplinary workflows required for the creation of federated models. The ability to lead, motivate and develop a production team will be important. Specifically experience in modelling Structures in Revit is needed with advanced skills in families creation and editing. The ability to deliver projects on time and within budget and to the required standards is sought.

     

    Key Responsibilities

    • As this is a technical position, with utilized targets, the individual will work closely with the Technical Principal to drive innovation, quality, and support resourcing as required.

    • Revit Modelling and coordination to high standard and desired output.

    • Creation of federated models of large linear infrastructure projects.

    • Demonstrate advanced technical skills, ensuring that digital delivery tasks undertaken meet appropriate technical standards and ensure the designs are to the level of quality of the client, SMEC and project.

    • Assist in Managing resources to meet project deadlines and deliverables.

    • Strictly adhere to SMEC’s Management System (MS), quality standards and HSE procedures

    Recommended Qualifications, Skills and Experience Required

    • 10 years relevant industry experience.

    • Revit and AutoCAD software skills as a minimum.

    • Autodesk Construction Cloud knowledge and experience.

    • Diploma, Advanced Diploma or equivalent professional tertiary drafting qualification.

    • Experience in the production of CAD documentation to set Standards from concept stage.

    • Use of or knowledge of other software packages such as Navisworks, Infraworks, Dynamo or Bentley products would also be highly beneficial.

    • Experience working on major transport (road/rail) or other infrastructure projects in a similar role.

    • Ability to work well within a team and a positive attitude to your work.
