    Vice President Environment Health Safety

    Role Purpose

    Safety is a value to the DRA Group, this role will design, implement, coordinate, and communicate all Health, Safety and Environmental programmes. You will have the responsibility to provide direction on critical safety decisions which impact the overall company objectives, operations, and profitability.

    Key responsibilities:

    • Develop and deliver a Behavioural Safety program integrated into existing SHE systems and processes. 
    • Implement HSE management plans to support site SHE and Management project initiatives based on the behavioural approach to continuously improve and develop key SHE efforts in the delivery of our contracts.
    • Report on group HSE performance to guide the business toward World-Class SHE Practices. 
    • Assist in positioning DRA as a global industry leader through the establishment of best-in-class SHE processes, performance, audit standards and expertise for benchmarking
    • Interface and build key relationships with clients, key construction contractors, and supply chain to gather knowledge and share experiences on a regular basis to mutual benefit
    • Implement the company’s strategic SHE plan and ensure resources are monitored and controlled within budget, and performance criteria tracked, advising on adjustments and solving complex problems as needed.
    • advise on and monitor environmental compliance ensuring that DRA environmental strategy and philosophy are in compliance with the environmental regulations for the areas that we work in ensuring that regular environmental audits are completed to minimize any and or all environmental risks.

    Qualifications

    • Post-graduate degree or equivalent credential in SHE with an engineering background
    • One or more professional SHE-related certifications (SACPCMP-CHSM or equivalent)

    Experience

    • A minimum of 10 years of specialist SHE experience in the Mining & Metals sector in Africa and internationally. 
    • 8 years in a Projects environment.
    • Experience with union environments desirable.
    • Demonstrate specific expertise in Behavioural Safety programs.
