Junior Research fellow: Emergency Medicine at University of Cape Town

Job description

Requirements include:

• Master’s degree in a health science field;
• Demonstrable research experience, including minimum 3 years in the healthcare sector;
• Proven experience in carrying out core research tasks (such as literature reviews, scoping of funding opportunities, writing and revising research protocols, writing interview guides and reports, and coordinating research review by ethics committees);
• Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, e-mail and calendar programs, PowerPoint, etc.);
• Excellent interpersonal abilities;
• Excellent written and verbal communication.

Advantageous:

• Demonstrable history of scientific publications;
• Demonstrable experience in post-graduate supervision;
• Demonstrable experience in emergency care.

Responsibilities include:

• Liaison with faculty to ensure smooth administration of the PhD programme and appropriate progression of students;
• Mentoring (including research supervision and co-supervision) of post-graduate students in the Division of Emergency Medicine;
• Assist with grant funding applications;
• Assisting the Division to improve Research outputs including conducting own research.
