    Sales Engineer

    Job description

    Position Description

    Reporting to the Sales Manager, you will be responsible for managing key accounts within the Coastal Region as well as business development from engineering firms. You will be responsible for analysis of business needs and definition of client requirements in conjunction with the Applications Engineering team to determine technical requirements for any project work. You will work with the Engineering team to convey requirements to the client and provide insight into the technical options available for Pumps and Mechanical Seals.

    Position Requirements

    • To respect the Flowserve code of conduct while maintaining and increasing pumps and seals install base;
    • To serve customers with Flowserve pumps, mechanical seals (pump, mixer & compressor seals), parts and services;
    • To sell Pumps, Drivers, Mechanical Seals, Parts, Repairs and Services to Customers from the most appropriate Flowserve operation;
    • To achieve approved booking plan;
    • To provide high level of customer satisfaction and work to improve customer relations;
    • To provide technical expertise to customers and distributors through analyzing technical proposals as well as assisting with pump selections and being available for clarification meetings.
    • To liaise and drive internal resources (Customer Service Order Acquisition, Technical Services, Parts Group, Operations, etc.) to satisfy customer requests;
    • To propose and challenge with responsibility new potential accounts to target with particular reference to industrial market within assigned territory;
    • To generate tailor made proposals to clients with Flowserve software and create software and sales documentation;
    • To provide complete and clear information and instructions to Customer Service Order Acquisition, Technical Services, Parts Group, etc. together with the requests for quotation;
    • To collect receivables and particularly the bad debts in liaison with finance departments;
    • To maintain Customer Profiles updated (Customer profiles must be inclusive of: Contact list, Visit reports, Customer spend, Installation list);
    • To maintain company’s quotation tracking software (Cobra & Vision Net) updated;
    • To provide accurate booking forecast, monthly;
    • To produce quality on-time reports when requested;
    • To regularly visit customers all over the assigned territory: Spend at least 60 to 70% of the working time visiting customers.

    Preferences

    The successful candidate will have a college or university diploma/degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent and at least 7 years' sales experience on Pumps and/or Seals. In addition, you'll need to possess

    • Effective oral and written communications
    • Collaborative interpersonal skills
    • Understanding of pump principles of operation, system analysis, Fluid Mechanics as it applies to pumps and their systems
    • Ability to interpret industry standards, technical drawings and manufacturing procedures
    • ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents and respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints
    • Communicate effectively with customers and Flowserve business units at various organizational levels located globally
    • Proven track record of selling, building, and/or deploying technology solutions.
    • Proven experience in providing basic to complex Pump and/or Seals system solutions to clients.
    • Outstanding pre-and post-sales account management and follow-through skills, resourcefulness, and attention to detail.
    • Experience designing and presenting technical solutions to meet customer requirements.
    • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
    • Technical sales support experience.
    • Excellent verbal and written communications skills; professional presentation skills; self-starter, cooperative attitude; team player.
    • Excellent interpersonal and time management skills
    • Detail-oriented, multi-tasking, and able to deal with tight deadlines and stress.
    • Ability to learn new technologies quickly.
