    Finance Manager - Operations

    Job description

    Purpose of the Role

    The role is to manage the finance functions of three growing businesses in full, two operating in Nottingham Road. A service station; a hotel, conference, and spa venue, with shop and restaurant; and a property management business. The role is forward looking and requires continuous analysis of the performance of the businesses, together with advice on how to prevent problems, adapt to changing circumstances and improve value return. Prepare, develop and analyse key financial information to ensure that the respective business’s management are able to make well-informed decisions to ensure future stability, growth and profitability. The role combines accounting skills with business management skills.

    Roles and Responsibilities

    • Responsible for preparation and distribution of accurate monthly management packs, including financial accounts, and all relevant metrics to the Heads for Executive and Board meetings.
    • Responsible for the treasury function of the entities and businesses, with active cashflow management.
    • Manage all aspects of the finance functions.
    • Analysis of spending and in-depth reconciliation to budgets, driving the insights back into business.
    • Preparation of budgets and forecasts.
    • Financial modelling where required.
    • Volumes reporting and analytical cost comparisons to targets.
    • Budget; 3-year forecasting and analysis of risks in the business achieving its targets.
    • Providing a support service by working with all departments and the management team to help make informed financial decisions.
    • Forming key strategic decisions and formulating business strategies.
    • Advising on the financial implications and consequences of business decisions.
    • Analysing financial performance and contributing to medium and long-term business planning/forecasts.
    • Offering professional judgment on financial matters and advising/driving ways of improving business performance.
    • Interpreting and communicating financial data to non-financial managers (training where needed).
    • Liaising with other managers to put the finances and accounts in context.
    • Monitoring and evaluating financial information systems and suggesting improvements where needed.
    • Implementing corporate governance procedures, risk management and internal controls.
    • Stock count oversight, management and control – continuously looking for optimisation.

    Knowledge and Experience

    • CIMA and/or BCom/BCompt Honours (with articles)
    • 5 years’ commercial experience
    • Retail/hospitality experience a requirement
    • Advanced MS Office expertise
    • Xero, OPERA, MICROS, and GAAP actively in use
