    Social Media Specialist

    Job description

    Objective:    Responsible for strategic thinking and development of editorial content for social media platforms, including implementation of paid media based of business goals and ROI in order to increase customer engagement. This person will also be responsible for reporting on monthly content and constantly building and growing off past content plans in order to improve sentiment.

    Functions / responsibilities:

    • Drive the development of social media business content and implementation of paid media strategy
    • Planning social content and maintaining the content calendar ensuring social media content is regular, relevant and engaging. Ensuring that approaches to social media are relevant and appropriate for each medium
    • Schedule all content a week in advance
    • Writing engaging copy for use on relevant social media and digital platforms.
    • Working with buyers, instore and marketing teams to look at ways social media can work within wider campaigns.
    • Interpret data and community conversations into actionable insights in consultation with Digital manager
    • Monitor social properties for response opportunities.
    • Implement and activate brand sponsorships through social media.
    • Identify new social trends and technologies.
    • Conduct online advocacy and open stream for cross-promotions.
    • Develop and expand community and/or blogger outreach efforts.
    • Compile report for management showing results (ROI).
    • Monitor trends in Social Media tools, applications, channels, design and strategy.
    • Identify threats and opportunities in user generated content surrounding the business, report to appropriate management.
    • Performs other duties as assigned by the Marketing Digital Manager.
    • Content generation for e-commerce and other online sources that include:

    Inspirational articles and DIY projects and/or videos
    Liaising with merch and suppliers to negotiate brand specific content usage and implementation of relevant content on our sites
    Manage and co-ordinate all competitions (on-line and other) from concept to conclusion whilst ensuring maximum branding opportunities for each sponsorship.

    Requirements: 

    • Matric
    • Completed Bachelor’s degree in Marketing
    • 2-3 years professional work experience (retail background an advantage).
    • Minimum 2 years-experience as a copywriter, social media coordinator, or marketing coordinator.
    • Knowledge and understanding of social media platforms.
    • Must have exceptional writing and grammatical skills, especially in online community environment.
    • Must having a working knowledge of social media analytics and understand the various metrics.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Excellent project management and organization skills with strong attention to detail.
    • Understanding of all Microsoft Office products.
    • Ability to thrive in a high-energy, fast-paced and collaborative environment.
    • Flexible to change, a creative thinker and problem solver, and accustomed to working in teams.
    • Collaborative team player able to integrate with a diverse team full of opinions and ideas.
    • Diligent work ethic and insatiable desire for innovation
