    Systems Administrator

    Job description

    Main purpose

    The role in question is a technical role with some administration aspects which are necessary to support the department.

    • The employee would be expected to spend a large percentage of their time handling calls and emails from users and ensuring that reported problems are resolved and approved requests fulfilled in a timely and professional manner.
    • Troubleshooting computer and printer hardware failures and providing a resolution for detected problem(s).
    • Assists with the planning, design, setup, and troubleshooting of such items as client operating systems, systems management software, security and AV software, productivity applications, and other software impacting company employees.
    • Performs usage planning, forecasting/trending, hardware/software configuration and installation of such items as client operating systems, AV, and patch management infrastructure, productivity applications, and virtual desktop environments.
    • Formulates and implements standard configurations for all client systems in use at the company throughout the world. Acts as an advisor to Global IT Staff on client systems and concerns for the region.
    • Helping maintain current documentation on computer and networked facilities and installations as assigned and creating additional documentation.
    • Assisting with new product evaluation.
    • Providing assistance in support (computing, audio visual, setup and breakdown etc.) for special projects and events.
    • Assisting customers in understanding the use of supported devices and helping to produce training materials where appropriate.
    • Undertake enterprise support tasks such as checking backups, taking part in upgrades and implementation of new systems.
    • Ensuring that policies and procedures are adhered to.
    • Must be willing and able to Travel

    Knowledge and Experience:

    • This position would be at the Information Systems Engineer level of the Global Career Framework (GCF) and the employee would be expected to have:
    • Excellent working knowledge of PC applications. Specifically Windows 7, Windows 8/10, Microsoft Office 2013 / 2016, O365, vSphere, Symantec End Point and peripherals
    • A good understanding of Microsoft Network Services, namely Active Directory, DNS and DHCP
    • Professional with PC & Server operating systems and network issue diagnosis tools and techniques (steps recorder, Remote Desktop Connection, ping, tracert, Windows Control Panel etc.)
    • Good verbal and written communication skills – a professional telephone manner is essential

    Good intuitive thinking skills

    • The ability to work with remote parties to diagnose and attempt to resolve issues which aren’t local to the employee.
    • The ability to work with some guidance to produce documentation and complete stages of a project.
    • 5 years’ experience in supporting users and systems in a corporate environment
    • Experienced industry knowledge of network infrastructure
    • Exposure to operating systems other the Windows
    • Excellent working knowledge of virtualisation technologies in a corporate environment

    Windows Active Directory such as:

    • User permissions
    • Security groups & distribution lists
    • Group Policy
    • Computer accounts
    • Troubleshooting account lockouts, password issues
    • A proven track record in 1st & 2nd line helpdesk support
    • Experience of working with 3rd parties and suppliers
    • Good working knowledge of Audio Visual and Video Conferencing equipment
    • Exposure to UNIX operating systems
    • Experience in supporting mobile users and applications
    • Experience of enterprise backup techniques – Symantec / CommVault
    • Knowledge of iOS, Android
    • Microsoft SharePoint
    • Knowledge of corporate software collaboration tools (WebEx, Skype for Business)
