    Drawing Office Manager

    Job Description

    Qualifications:

    • Minimum Grade 12, T2 or N5

    Experience:

    • 15+ years’ experience in the Mining and minerals industry.
    • Extensive knowledge in the design and drafting field. Preferably in a mechanical background. Time served apprentice.
    • Drafting for 15+ years

    Competencies:

    Technical:

    • Understanding the principles and techniques involved in management and design facets of managing and controlling a multidiscipline design office
    • Knowledge of all design techniques, tools and principals involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings and 3D models
    • Knowledge of the design requirement necessary to design and construct process and mineral plants
    • The use of computer programs and systems to design detailed two- or three-dimensional models of physical objects, such as mechanical parts, buildings, and molecules
    • Full understanding of the administrative requirements wrt to company procedures (Design and QA) To ensure full compliance to engineering procedures

    Leadership and management:

    • Providing face-to-face ongoing support for the development of an individual in order to encourage them to step up to responsibility and continued achievement
    • Manages and resolves conflicts, grievances, confrontations, or disagreements in a constructive manner to minimise negative personal impact
    • Entrusting responsibility and authority for tasks in your own area of accountability to appropriate personnel
    • Knowledge of teaching, training, research, making presentations, lecturing, testing, and other instructional methods
    • Creating an organisational climate, which encourages people to learn from their successes and failures, promoting the development of people and processes
    • Recognising the value of diversity and harnessing the broad diversity of people as an organisational strength
    • Evaluating the performance and skills of staff objectively and identifying suitable action to address performance gaps

    Key Performance Areas:

    • Manages the Design Office
    • Provides input into the project in conjunction with the project team
    • Determines the staffing requirements for projects
    • Develops and maintains drawing policies and procedures
    • Determines the relevant systems, drafting tools and technologies to be implemented
    • Adheres to Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality (SHEQ) policies and procedures.
