    Transport and Dispatch Manager

    Job description

    Retail giant seeks Transport and Dispatch Manager to join their team.

    PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

    To ensure quality delivery to retailers whilst adhering to Transport Best Operating practice and Transport Legislation as well as Despatch best practices.

    KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

    • Good knowledge of company delivery systems and operations
    • Extensive knowledge of transport operating practices
    • Intense knowledge of driver responsibilities towards managing and taking care of heavy duty vehicles
    • Be a strong communicator to provide high standards of customer service when delivering to retailers
    • Working knowledge of Road Traffic Act as well as transport Legislation
    • Be flexible to be able to travel to all distribution points
    • To manage TDC (Total distribution cost) within budget
    • To improve customer service relationships, whilst improving on services being rendered in terms of compliance and on time deliveries
    • Ensure proper procedures and controls are in place within the Outbound Night Shift Department
    • Ensure a functional SLA in place with all service providers (Workshop, Assembly etc.)
    • Manage a full SRE function within the BOP perimeters
    • Ensure all orders scheduled for loading must be completed on NRSP
    • Manage daily unloaded containers with entire team
    • Plan, organize and measure resources to ensure that targets are met and waves are completed timeously and enforcing cut-off times
    • Maintain and grow excellent relationship with retailer through analyzing and resolving queries and complaints effectively and providing timeous solutions and feedback

    SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE:

    • Matric Certificate a pre-requisite
    • Minimum 3-year degree or Diploma in Transport and Logistics
    • At least 5 to 8 years ‘previous experience in FMCG Distribution systems
    • Computer Literate
    • Methodical, strong personality coupled with Organizational skills
    • Passion for service and zero tolerance to mediocracy
    • Reliable and assertive and show initiative
    • Ability to motivate a team good communication skills
    • Drive energy and enthusiasm
    • Ability to work independently & be self-motivated
    • Ability to work shifts which may include weekends
    • Must be able to work shifts and over weekends

    Only applicants with previous transport and FMCG experience will be considered
