    Manager Production I

    Job description

    Pioneer Foods seek a suitably qualified Manager Production I at their Pioneer Foods, Groceries, Cereals, (Pro Nutro) in Wadeville Germiston Gauteng. The successful candidate will manage the various production activities of one manufacturing unit or factory through subordinate supervisors and controllers in order to achieve planned production targets and in so doing ensure the effective use of available resources. Some key components of this role include: controlling product quality assurance, optimisation of raw material stock levels, managing health & safety.

    SPECIFIC OUTPUTS:

    • Managed and controlled product quality assurance.
    • Planning of manufacturing and manage all departmental manufacturing operations. Implementation of corrective actions where non-conformances were found during audits. Controlled production processes and optimised raw material stock levels.
    • Create and ensure a safe working environment at all times.
    • Organise, monitor and control staff, shifts and overtime.
    • Management of performance, training and development of staff.
    • Education staff on principles of OEE and MDW.
    • Training and communication of Pioneer Foods best practices, tools and techniques and continuously improving procedures & practices; Optimised people, plant, machinery and equipment.
    • Manage the reporting of Safety, Production, Quality, Food Safety, OEE, Budgets, Manpower and departmental relations.
    • Manage staff requirements and direct the production team.
    • Hygiene & Housekeeping:- Adopt at all times a high standard of housekeeping.
    • Planned Maintenance & Repair:- Familiarize yourself with all equipment within your area. Production Plan:- Deliver against the production plan.
    • Cost Control:- (REWORK ; FLOOR WASTE; DOWNTIME; PACKAGING). Utilizing the resources at hand and the knowledge of the particular product running down each line; minimise where possible in relation to the product.
    • S.H.E Management (Safety / Health and Environment):- Ensure that working practices comply with company rules and procedures. Ensured safety, health & hygiene.
    • Generate technical input related to process flows, raw materials, product specifications and processing techniques.
    • Capacity planning and process optimisation.
    • To plan:- organise, facilitate and control area. This will include all activities of your team in achieving the required standard of excellence within your area. To ensure at all times that priority areas are kept clean and tidy to the highest standard falling within the company policy on health and hygiene and general welfare facilities on site. (This will also include liaising with shift colleagues within their areas). Approved and managed projects and managed team.
    • All such duties / activities assigned by management as and when required.
    • LM Variance. Efficient Asset utilization – manpower productivity & plant efficiencies. Innovation. OEE & Capex.
    • Manage a Team of support production personnel to maintain high quality products and production volumes.Training and developing:- through (PDP – personal development plans) each individual within your team will be set targets to achieve to an acceptable level of under-pinning knowledge required by the business.
    • Food Safety and Quality: Comply with all written documented /controlled procedures which comply with food safety and quality.
    • Uphold company policies and statutory requirements.
    • The Successful Applicant The successful candidate will have strong academic qualifications and come from a production environment with exposure to management level.
    • He / She will also have strong improvement and process development experience within the FMCG environment.
    • SAP experience will be highly beneficial as well as fully computer literate.
    • Strong English written and verbal ability is imperative.

    MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:

    Five years manufacturing experience within in a FMCG environment.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    Degree and/or Diploma in Production Management or similar qualification.

    ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

    Computer skills including SAP and MS Office.

    Business planning skills.

    Project management skills.
