    Head of Sales: Sub-Saharan Africa

    Job description

    The incumbent will play a crucial role in implementing the new sales and business development structure and growing juwi’s pipeline in South Africa and other SSA countries. Current team management responsibility involves co-ordination of efforts of three business development and sales personnel.

    Primary Responsibilities

    • Grow juwi’s pipeline and sales in South Africa and SSA against defined KPIs
    • Implement the new sales structure
    • Lead and give overall direction to the sales team and act as the main point of contact to team members
    • Act as the main point of contact to the Managing Director in South Africa and to the Director of Sales EMEA for questions related to business development and sales in SSA
    • Convert leads into opportunities, and manage the RFQ process
    • Develop and maintain relationship with IPPs, project developers, government officials, institutions, advisers and other stakeholders
    • Support project development activities as and when required
    • Identify and evaluate new business models together with the development of associated business cases
    • Active support to the strategy development process, and the associated strategy implementation program
    • Active supervision and quality assurance of the bid preparation process
    • Continue to improve the quality of sales and business development related processes within the Company
    • Ensure that all team management activities are fulfilled
    • Ensure that all administrative procedures including CRM, project pipeline databases, and project Stage-Gate processes are fulfilled
    • Ensure that the sales team is appropriately and effectively resourced
    • Report on a regular basis to management

    Qualifications, Experience adn Personal Attributes

    • Degree in Business Management or related field
    • Minimum 5-year’s experience in the renewable energy industry. Direct PV sales experience in SSA is an advantage.
    • High degree of independence, initiative and decisiveness
    • Proven experience managing a team
    • Ability to travel quite extensively for business opportunities
    • Proficient in English; French and/or Swahili and/or Portuguese would be advantageous
