    Junior Accountant

    Job description

    • Accountable for execution of financial accounting requirements.
    • Prepare, analyse and accurately report financial accounting information timeously in support of informed business decision making.
    • Effective processing of financial transactions and reconciliations ensuring the integrity of reported financial results is maintained in accordance with Barclays Africa and Woolworths reporting requirements and IFRS.
    • Responsible for financial processes and controls in accordance with WFS policies, processes, financial governance principles and legislative accounting requirements and the execution thereof.

    • Stakeholder management
    • Supervisory skills
    • Communication skills, both written and verbal (including being able to run workgroups/meetings)

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATION

    • Matric certificate
    • 3 year university business-related or accounting degree or diploma would be an advantage

    EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

    • 2 - 3 years’ experience in either a finance or commercial services role with financial accounting exposure
    • 1 - 2 years supervisory experience
    • 2 - 3 years’ relevant experience within a medium to large organisation within the financial services industry would be an advantage
    • Proficiency in Excel skills
    • Knowledge of financial administration policies, standards and procedures
    • Knowledge of financial systems and processes used to support financial administration practices (General Ledger, Sub-ledgers including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable etc.)
    • Ability to understand financial accounting principles and concepts including knowledge of IFRS
