Job Description

Kuehne+Nagel is excited about the prospect of employing a National Contracts Logistics Manager for South Africa branch based in Longmeadow, Johannesburg. In this role the successful candidate will have the responsibility for the safe and profitable management of all contract logistics sites within South Africa. The candidate will provide leadership of the various operational teams and ensure the cost effective management of 3rd party suppliers. The successful candidate will manage critical success factors include meeting all QSHE requirements, achieving financial targets, providing a commercially sound value proposition and meeting all client KPIs.

Tasks And Responsibilities Include

• To manage all contract logistics/ distribution activities and monitor performance in conformance with company policies and procedures and recommend or implement personnel action/s when applicable.
• To evaluate, reallocate resources, monitor and regulate team member’s performance and workload and provide assistance where and when necessary to ensure optimal efficiency.
• To manage and control financial account’s and budget activities in order to fund operations, maximize investments, and increase efficiency.
• To plan, develop, implement and recommend policies concerning staff and work standard improvements.
• To drive the development of new professional Logistics Solutions with existing and new top accounts for the country.
• Spearhead the continuous improvement of operations towards better efficiency and customer satisfaction.
• Secures the appropriate management of property and security systems.
• Comments monthly report to the Top Management on the facilities results and analyse the discrepancies according to the budget.
• Coordinates other business actions with the other profit centres of the Kuehne + Nagel Group.
• Get totally involved in the QSHE approach of the country and the Group.
• Has continuously a customer orientated approach for his/her business unit and company.

Your Skills And Experience

• Bachelor Degree in Commerce, Logistics & Engineering or equivalent qualification will be a distinct advantage.
• Demonstrated ability to analyse a P&L and provide constructive feedback.
• Minimum of 7 -10 years' experience in Contract Logistics, Supply chain management in a management role.
• Proven ability to secure commercial negotiations and effectively implement contract logistics projects.
• Advanced level of computer literacy.
• Proven ability to lead a team.
• Excellent listening skills
• Proven problem solving skills
• Ability to communicate positively and credibly.
• Ability to solve operational challenges and align with stakeholders
• Ability to provide direction and structure to operational teams to align with standard operating.

• Demonstrated ability to project manage continuous improvement projects including system integrations and roll-outs.
