    Research Support Manager (Clinical)

    Job description

    The Wellcome Centre for Infectious Diseases Research in Africa (CIDRI-Africa) based at the Institute of Infectious Diseases and Molecular Medicine (IDM) in the Faculty of Health Sciences is a multidisciplinary infectious disease research center, committed to the pursuit of excellence in research, treatment and prevention of HIV and TB in South Africa. We seek a highly motivated Research Support (Clinical) Manager to coordinate and manage all research activities on site, under the supervision of the on-site research medical officers with input from the PI/Co-PI.

    This full-time 12 month fixed term (T1) contact position will be based at the CIDRI-Africa research center in Khayelitsha at Site B day hospital.

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor of Science (biological or medical science)
    • OR: Qualification as professional nurse (4-year degree / diploma in health) and registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC)
    • Current Good Clinical Practice (GCP) certification
    • Valid driver’s license
    • 3 years clinical trials experience (phase I to IV)
    • Knowledge of TB and HIV
    • Excellent computer skills: Excel, PowerPoint, Clinical Research Databases
    • Fluency in English, Xhosa or any other official language

    Advantageous:

    • Clinical Research Study Coordination experience
    • Post graduate degree in relevant field

    Responsibilities:

    • Management of study activities – co-ordinate clinical operations of multiple studies
    • Study protocol implementationprepare study documentation, coordinate consenting, screening, enrolment and follow up schedules of participants
    • Study Administration – development of study documentation processes, manage regulatory application and approvals, safety reporting and produce study progress reports
    • Training and coordination of staffundertake regular staff training activities
    • Management of staff activities on site with Medical Officers and Projects Coordinator
    • Participant management – manage participant clinical visits and procedures on daily basis
    • QA/QC and monitoring – development and implementation of SOPs, manage internal and external monitoring activities, prepare facility for monitoring and external audits

    The annual cost of employment, including benefits, is between R259 653 and R494 154
