    Security Manager

    Job description

    • Managethe disposal of excess, obsolete or reject materials or products – establishingprocedures, selecting and monitoring waste disposal sites so that we meet allcompany and legal environmental requirements.
    • Monitorthe security of materials and products in transit to other sites andinvestigate any discrepancies.
    • Monitorsales of ELC products in non-authorised outlets (Grey Market) and report tosenior management and Corporate Security.
    • Maintainsecurity policies, procedures and guidelines for the guidance of Supervisorsand Security Officers.
    • Ensurethe systematic supervision and patrolling of the Kyalami facilities, approvingrosters, monitoring performance and resolving queries.
    • Reviewall security and fire alarm systems and equipment, to ensure that they continueto meet all Company and legal requirements, recommending and implementingchanges where they can be improved.
    • Maintaineffective Fire procedures, ensuring all personnel are aware of their roles and the procedurethrough training and practice drills.
    • Identify,evaluate and minimize security and fire risks at all ELC facilities.
    • Carryout internal security investigations into missing products, allegations,selling of product or staff shop tickets, establishing the facts for the Manager,and deciding whether to involve the police.
    • Recruit,develop and appraise the Security Department to ensure that they are fullytrained and follow all security and fire procedures to agreed standards.
    • Identify,evaluate and minimise security and fire risks within Operations.
    • AssistCorporate Security in wider investigations.
    • Monitorthe operating budget of the Security Department and monitor expenditure againstthe agreed budget.
    • Responsiblefor ensuring all fire risk assessments are conducted and implementation ofimprovements in safety levels.
    • Development,communication, counselling, capability and disciplinary matters of directreports.
    • Provideinvestigative reports/recommendations etc against all security-related incidents,ensuring involvement of senior management, Human resources and Police (whereappropriate)
    • Conductbi-annual review of all processes relating to the receipt and removal ofproducts, ensuring integrity of checks and balances, validation of audit trailsand accurate recording of adjustments to bookinventory.
    • Provideleadership and direction to direct reports, ensuring bi-annual performanceappraisals and development/execution of performance objectives.
    • Ensureall sub-contracted security employees engaged directly or indirectly by EsteeLauder Companies conform with Corporate standards and procedures.
    • Putin place, update and coordinate security procedures for travelers in SA and SSA.
    • Receivecounterfeit seizure notifications from Law Enforcement and partner law firmsand timely respond following our internal procedures. Report timely all casesinto our corporate case management system.
    • Managementof all drivers and their related activities.
    • Stronglaw enforcement background, experience in conducting investigations and workingwith government agencies.

    • Ensure offices and FSS have full 24/7 securitycoverage and manage the supervision of employee and contractor security staff.
    • Maintain security policies, procedures andguidelines for the guidance of supervisors and security officers.
    • Ensure review of all security systems andequipment, so that they continue to meet all Company and legal requirements,recommending and implementing changes where they can be improved.
    • Maintain procedures and monitor the securedistribution of company products through the staff shop with company rules andprocedures.
    • Investigate variances in cycle counting inventoryand ensure integrity of counts.
    • Reduce thefts within the premises. This willinclude, but is not restricted to reviewing current processes, and amending asnecessary; carrying out a regular programme of searches of staff; monitoringCCTV and reacting to security incidents.
    • Fully investigate theft or other crime committedat the affiliate and liaise with HR and Law Enforcement as required.
    • Build up a good relationship with securitycontractors, assess their products and develop a proactive knowledge on newsecurity techniques, and assist in the implementation of them as necessary,ensuring the affiliate gets best value for money.
    • Provide a weekly summary and a comprehensivemonthly report of all security related matters pertaining to both the GeneralManager and Global Security.
    • Fully update on a regular basis, at leastmonthly, the corporate GS&TMP case management database, on all securityactions and incidents handled
    • Conduct security audits in our own premises(Distribution Center – warehouses) or at third parties.
    • In coordination with supply chain management,implement and enforce S.O.P. with third party transport companies and othercontractors in the region
    • On occasion and when required, work with othermembers of the security team to ensure that the affiliate receives the bestpossible response to security issues.
    • Supply Chain EMEIA
    • Working in close relationship with other SecurityManagers and other staff members in the region.
    • Assist in wider EMEIA investigations, toinvestigate warehouse, general supply chain losses.
    • Knowledge of criminal and civil law andpolice procedures as they relate to security matters.
    • Knowledge of South African regulationsregarding disposal of waste and fire procedures.
    • In depth knowledge of security systems, bothelectronic and physical.
    • Thorough understanding of the business interms of structure, responsibilities, and the movement of goods.
    • Knowledge of Human Resources policies andprocedures, including disciplinary and safety.
    • Clean police clearance
    • Background in law enforcement or privatesecurity (knowledge of criminal and civil laws and procedures related tosecurity matters – disciplinary / security interviews).
    • Knowledge of security systems, bothelectronic and physical.
    • A second / third European language would beadvantageous.
    • Knowledge of warehouse and distributionprocesses.
    • Good understanding of IT datamanagement.
