Job description

Intermediate to Senior Hydrogeologist:

• Groundwater / hydrogeological investigations to support mining project EIA’s or scoping, PFS and FS level studies.
• Design of dewatering and depressurisation systems for open pit and underground mines.
• Construction of evaluation/monitoring boreholes and production wells in varied geological environments
• Seepage evaluation from existing or planned tailings or mine waste storage facilities
• Planning/execution of hydraulic tests and interpretation of data
• Numerical groundwater flow modelling (FEFLOW, MODFLOW, GWV, MINEDW, etc)

Intermediate to Senior Geochemist:

• Design and execution of static and kinetic testing investigations for acid-rock drainage / metal leaching assessments.
• Numerical water quality modelling of mine facilities using software such as PHREEQC.
• Construction of chemical mass balance models in conjunction with surface water balances (GoldSim).
• Groundwater contaminant transport modelling.
• Geochemical/water quality aspects of mine closure planning

General requirements

• BSc (Hons) (MSc level preferred) in Geology, Earth Sciences, Hydrogeology or a closely related field.
• Practical experience in minerals sector consulting in hydrogeology, mine hydrology or environmental geochemistry (minimum 5 years for Intermediate candidates; minimum 10 years for Senior candidates).
• Professional registration would be beneficial;
• Strong organizational and team skills and project management experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with ability to prepare, review and edit reports and other client deliverables. Fluency in Spanish and/or French would be highly advantageous.
• Mobility and willingness to undertake international assignments, prospectively across all continents.
