Position Description

This role will sit in the Specialist Finance team who supports financial management of the Underwriting Managers and Divisional Units in the Niche Business, Santam Agriculture, Centriq and Santam Structured Insurance. The role is required to ensure delivery of the processing of financial requirements of Niche Business, including execution of required checks and balances.

Key Responsibilities

• Responsible and accountable for ensuring Financial reporting is in accordance with the guidelines/ definitions/ rules provided by Santam Group and Regulatory Reporting.
• Assist the UMA’s with the reporting of the financial information to Santam by
• Checking the Financial information is representative of their business performance.
• Assisting in the monthly reporting if the UMA’s don’t have capacity, by preparing and uploading the monthly financial submission through AMS; also assisting in the preparation on submission of monthly FSB regulatory for them. The role requires understanding the smaller division’s business, processes and IT system.
• The role requires engagement with the UMA’s in order to understand that the numbers are accurate, valid and complete.
• The role requires training the new Finance team member in the smaller Divisions if there is a resignation
• Checking that the Vat bordereaux is in compliance with the tax regulation
• Processing of financial transactions e.g. checking and authorizing of cashbook bordereaux.
• Checking and preparation of financial payments e.g. Management fees.
• Assist in the delivery of other regulatory reporting requirements with the support of the Regulatory Reporting team, including existing FSB reporting requirements, SARB reporting requirements and ad hoc reporting requests.
• Support financial reporting requirements where business change necessitates reporting changes.
• Provide support in adhoc projects from the financial management and the Specialist business team requirements.
• The role will responsible for the capturing of the Budget (annually) and forecast (Quarterly).

Minimum Requirements

• Diploma / certificate /similar financial or insurance qualification
• Experience to include dealing with complex stakeholder environments
• Two to three years’ experience in capturing information in similar environment
• Insurance industry experience recommended
• Good MS Excel skills required
• Insurance knowledge recommended
• Analytical skills and good logical reasoning
