    Information Manager

    Job description

    Requirement Overview

    To manage and coordinate the implementation of information management initiatives to avail information at the right place, right time, to the right person and provide the right view for both internal and external stakeholders.

    Roles & Responsibilities

    • Manage Enterprise Information
    • Provide input into the development and implementation of the AGSA 4 net strategy
    • Develop and implement policies and procedures aligned AGSA 4 Net strategy
    • Ensure that the websites adhere to the approved AGSA branding and layout guidelines
    • Design, implement and maintain web pages
    • Assist and train knowledge representatives
    • Ensure that the organization leverages off its BI investment
    • Establish processes to define integrate and synchronize data across the organization.
    • Drive and champion initiatives to address data quality with relevant business owners
    • Advices business users on how to develop BI and ECM models and scenarios
    • Manage Information Retrieval
    • Develop ETL processes to customise data extracts and import into the dimensional data warehouse
    • Monitor and analyse the integrity of the indexing tools to assist in the searchability of documents
    • Improve and streamline processes regarding data flow and data quality to improve data accuracy, viability and value
    • Manage information retrieval in accordance with policies and procedures
    • Manage Information Storage
    • Ensure the integrity of the databases containing the web and stakeholder information
    • Ensure that documentsare correctly tagged with relevant meta data as per AGSA file plan
    • Overseeing the on-going development and operations of an operational data store and enterprise data warehouse
    • Manage the Analysis of Information
    • Test, measure and monitor corporate data and merge multiple data inputs in database sources
    • Develop and document system design guidelines
    • Consult with internal stakeholders to ensure conformity with business requirements
    • Manage Dissemination of Information
    • Develop interactive reporting solutions based on functional specifications
    • Develop dashboards, business intelligence solutions that enables fact-based decision making, ad hoc analysis and insight generation
    • Resolve queries and logged information problems
    • Collaborate with end users to identify needs and opportunities for improved data management and delivery
    • Manage Business Intelligence (BI)
    • Promote the value and potential of BI in the organization
    • Ensures that BI projects are aligned with AGSA strategy and meet business requirements
    • Manage a team of BI developers and ensure that they deliver timely BI initiatives
    • Manage standards and templates for BI using Qlikview and Microsoft BI solution stack
    • Manage Data Warehouse
    • Assist the Data Warehouse Architect to plan the architecture of the solution including of the following:
    • Performance considerations
    • Storage repository selections
    • Data schemas
    • Subject definitions
    • Manage a team of data warehouse developers and ensure that they deliver timely data warehouse initiatives
    • Manage standards and templates for data warehouse using Microsoft BI tools
    • Manage Human Resources
    • Analyse the Centre business plan to determine the applicable deliverables and targets for Information Management
    • Participate in securing the human resource requirements to ensure that deliverables will be met in accordance with the expected targets
    • Manage staff performance to implement a culture of performance management:
    • Compile IPC’s and PDP’s
    • Conduct coaching sessions to ensure subordinate performs at the optimum level
    • Provide constant feedback to subordinate
    • Provide mentorship to subordinate
    • Conduct performance reviews in accordance with policies and procedures and take corrective action where necessary
    • Manage the development of staff and ensure each staff member has a Personal Development Plan
    • Create a conducive environment to maintain and enhance employee motivation
    • Supervise BI and ECM developers and assist with methods and techniques during analysis, development and implementation of BI and ECM software systems
    • Motivate and assist junior BI and ECM team members to achieve desired objectives
    • Shares BI and ECM best practice and standards with ICT software developers and business users
    • Manage Human Resources in accordance with policies, procedures and legal requirements
    • Complete Human Resource Management actions within the allocated time frames
    • Manage Stakeholder Engagement
    • Maintain relationships through communicating BI and ECM goals, objectives and results between software developers and business users during the SDLC
    • Collaborate with project team, ensuring that quality software BI and ECM solutions that meet business needs and objectives are delivered on time and within budget
    • Continuously collaborate with Business Analysts and Testers to ensure user acceptance of BI and ECM system changes
    • Monitor and Input into Budget
    • Participate in the compilation of the BU budget indicating the financial requirements for information management in accordance with the budgeting guidelines
    • Assist in the monitoring and control of allocated budget.
    • Compile Information Management Reports
    • A report is due in accordance with scheduled activities; or
    • Receive a request for the compilation of a report and analyse the request to determine the nature and extent of the report
    • Collect the required data from all relevant sources
    • Verify the data to ensure that only applicable data is utilised
    • Collate the data and generate the report utilising the information in accordance with policies and procedures
    • Make recommendations in accordance with the information at hand
    • Submit the report for approval where necessary
    • Distribute the report to the relevant role players
    • Archive the report for future reference purposes
    • Compile the report in accordance with policies, procedures and legal requirements
    • Compile the report within the allocated time frame

    Skills, Experience & Education

    Formal Education:

    • Minimum Degree in Computer Science or a related qualification
    • Technical/Legal Certification
    • Business Intelligence certification (Microsoft BI) preferable
    • SharePoint Enterprise Content Management
    • Qlikview certification

    Experience

    • Between 3 - 5 years’ experience in enterprise content management, application development, business intelligence and data warehousing
    • 3- 5 years’ experience in developing and implementing MIS/BI solutions usinga combination of Qlikview, Microsoft BI solution stackOracle Application Express (APEX)
    • Exposure to document management frameworks is an added advantage
    • Experience in programming or software development, data and information modelling and website development
    • SharePoint document and Web development experience
