Job description

Seeking an experienced Institutional Equity Trader to join this successful securities company based in Cape Town.

Basic job requirements

• Completed degree (preferable)
• Necessary trading exams, equity trader /JSE/RPE exams
• 4 - 6 years equity trading experience preferably gained on the sell side (open to candidates wanting to move from buy side into sell side)
• Highly numerate with accompanying Excel, Bloomberg & particular Trading platform competence
• Preference is given to EE candidates only.

Duties and responsbilities

• Trading, administration and reporting
• Attending to client orders and queries
• Execute in line with client's expectations and instructions
• Attending to reporting to clients
• Contribute ways of improving reporting efficiency and correctness
• Sales/Client Interaction
• Ability to justify value add to the client
• Knowledge of client’s various offerings
• Ability to cross-sell client’s value add offering
• Attend new product/intelligence roadshows
• Market / Asset Class Knowledge
• Knowledge of asset class (macro & stock specific influences / drivers), Forex impacts
• Knowledge of other asset class influences
• Knowledge of client's Analysts stocks covered with current associated stock calls
• Asset Class products
• Development of new or add-on products
• Technology Adoption
• Practical knowledge of full suite of available algorithms
• Practical knowledge of full functionality of trading & information platforms
• Knowledge of latest industry developments
