A Cape Town based company is seeking a Senior MS Server Engineer to provide support within the IT operations environment. The candidate will be responsible the support of physical and virtual servers as well as their applications, along with Active Directory maintenance, maintenance and support of MS Exchange and installation, support and troubleshooting of Windows Server operating systems. 10+ years Server experience is required.

Salary: R55-65K/m

DUTIES

• Troubleshooting of both hardware and software related issues and execution of documented operational and maintenance procedures
• Active Directory maintenance and support including application of group policies and general directory maintenance
• Day-to-day maintenance and support of MS Exchange
• Installation, support and troubleshooting of Windows Server operating systems
• Installation, support and troubleshooting of Windows based server hardware
• Setup, maintain and support the VMware ESX environment
• DNS and DHCP support and maintenance
• Patch management and anti-virus support
• Adhere to strict change control and project management procedures
• Responsible for documentation of processes and procedures
• Provide after-hours support as/when required

REQUIREMENTS

• 10+ years Server experience is required
• MCSE or MCITP or relevant IT qualification
• Preferably have solid skills with some form of scripting skill i.e. PowerShell, VB etc.
• A comprehensive working knowledge of all MS Windows operating systems, specifically Windows Server editions
• Proven experience in a pressurized operations support environment
• Extensive knowledge of operating system security
• Must be experience with design, setup/configuration of AD forests/domains from start to finish
• Advanced authentication troubleshooting skills
• Must be able to configure and maintain AD sites and services replication
• High level understanding of DNS, DHCP, etc.
• High level understanding of and can configure ADFS 2012 and 2016
• Must have experience of setup and designing MS Exchange architecture
• Understand mail flow and can troubleshoot issues around mail flow
• Must be able to troubleshoot performance issues
• At least 5 years + hands on VMware support experience
• Must be able to design, setup/configure VMware architecture
• Conversant with HP, Dell, Oracle Sun and Cisco server technologies
• Some Linux knowledge or experience advantageous
• Knowledge of Netapp SAN storage advantageous
