We pride ourselves in having a reliable scalable tech platform allowing our users to discover each other and connect, 24/7/365.

We are looking for Senior Ruby Engineers to help us build our server-side services and infrastructure. We’re running primarily a Ruby stack built on top of AWS so expertise in Ruby is a must to succeed in this role.

We are running a mix of technologies in our stack, each chosen for a purpose and cognizant of the lean size of our team, keeping maintainability at the fore. Core technologies include ElasticSearch, Cassandra, Postgres, Redis and more than a average dose of AWS services. The position we are looking to fill would be key to designing and building out future versions of our API. Exposure to some of the technologies above would be beneficial but not required.

In a typical week as a senior backend engineer, you would

• Discuss, plan, and build new features and APIs using Ruby
• Actively contribute to decisions on server-side architecture
• Triage bugs and performance or load issues
• Diagnose operational issues and make plans for future scalability and load handling
• Participate in peer code reviews through pull requests to make sure we're moving fast while also maintaining quality codebases
• Collaborate with client engineers building user-facing features to decide how APIs should work

• You have built scalable server-side APIs and can point to your work

• You have strong communication skills and are able to explain complex technical topics to the entire team in a clear and concise way
• When things inevitably break—you eagerly jump in to diagnose and fix the core issues

• You have previously worked in startups as a software engineer
