    Senior Manager, Media Optimisation & Technology (Talent Pooling)

    Job description

    Job Purpose

    • Ensure all digital media for direct and digital marketing is used effectively and optimized using existing and new technology to promote products, services and the brand to both existing and potential customers by driving best practice and thought leadership in online media, mobile media and social media. To oversee the development of group-wide Media and Technology policies and platforms and strategies and monitor adherence to these across the group.
    • Extract the best out of the digital media agencies that partner with Standard Bank. Strong sense of design, user experience design and user interface design with the ability to understand the target audience. Good knowledge about social media marketing, cost per acquisition campaign management, search engine optimisation, content marketing and new media innovation such as augmented reality and near field communications. Good communication skills and a flair to create unique high impact - high ROI campaigns.
    • Responsible for leading and developing a team of Digital Media Strategists, delivering strategic guidance, driving integration within the bank in areas such as strategy, analytics, media and social. Ensuring that best practice is adhered to at all times.

    Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities

    • Manage the development of Digital Media strategy and planning:
      • Develop the overall Digital Media strategy (including social, mobile, email and web) which reflects the needs of varied stakeholders in (Marketing, business units, HR, IT, etc.) and takes into account an enterprise view for digital marketing, social media and digital analytics as this encompasses the entire business.
      • Ensure that the appropriate structures, systems, competencies and values are developed in order to meet the business digital media needs
      • Devise strategies to increase online traffic to all Standard Bank websites and drive an optimization strategy to increase efficiency and automation where required.
      • Organise and direct meetings on a regular basis to review Digital Media strategy and plans across the group.
      • Develop an in-depth understanding of business unit strategies, plans and objectives.
      • Develop an in-depth understanding of customer experience strategy, plans and objectives.
      • Participate and be integral to the marketing strategic planning of the all business units marketing and communication strategies.
      • Act as the Digital Media and Technology marketing thought leader and educate the business units and marketing teams on the power of best practices and emerging opportunities.
      • Actively research and keep up to date on digital, direct and social media trends and recommend new ways in which digital, direct and social media may be used in the Business.
      • Accelerate innovation by partnering with all parts of the business such as IT, innovation capability, Group Interactive Marketing.
      • Collaborate with business and recommend short- and long-term business unit goals and objectives to the executives.
    • Direct And Coordinate Digital And Direct Marketing Initiatives
      • Direct and oversee all functions comprising Digital and Social paid media management in the business unit.
      • Collaborate with Digital, Social and marketing managers to ensure the integration of digital strategies and tactics (for example, online advertising, web, mobile, social, email and other digital channels) into the business unit marketing plans to complement traditional off-line.
      • Direct and oversee the maintenance of ongoing digital presence for the business unit across all online channels.
      • Provide strategic direction to all third party agencies working on the digital media strategies and plans for the business unit.
      • Review media schedules, digital strategies and work with Group marketing and communications and other stakeholders to optimise various digital channels, repurposing as necessary.
      • Direct and oversee the implementation of Analytics tools and methodologies affecting Media
      • On a continuous basis investigate Search Engine Optimisation (e.g., Google), Programattic media buy tools.
      • Seek out new and innovative opportunities for marketing campaigns to make use of cutting edge digital media trends.
      • Evolve email marketing capabilities and increase effectiveness of campaigns.
      • Provide support to the business digital sales and service teams by providing information on how to effectively market digital products.
      • Collaborate with teams that work closely with digital banking to continually research and identify opportunities to enhance the online customer engagement experience, executing design, lead generation and other UX challenges to continually optimise engagement.
    • Manage Marketing Resources
      • Oversee the development and maintenance of budgets for digital and direct marketing and social media that are consistent with the financial guidelines provided by the business unit and Marketing and Communications.
      • Monitor digital and direct marketing activities and costs in the Business for utilisation of resources required to meet operational requirements.
      • Implement monitoring processes that demonstrate return on investment of digital marketing and social media campaigns
      • Report on digital Media initiatives
      • Identify opportunities to improve business Digital and Direct Marketing campaigns’ performance, enhance brand image, customer satisfaction and competitive advantage of Standard Bank through the effective placement and use of digital media.
      • Direct the development, implementation and management of interactive and digital media methodology for the business.
      • Direct and oversee the implementation of a consistent ‘test and learn’ methodology for digital and direct marketing.
      • Direct the utilisation of data and correct metrics to analyse and report on the effectiveness of digital and direct marketing and social campaigns for the business.
      • Oversee the establishment of a system of digital, direct and social media marketing reports and communications which is in line with the requirements for Marketing and Communications as a whole
      • Report on digital media and technology strategy and plans to the Head: Head: Digital Marketing and Analytics.
      • Communicate marketing media strategies and plans for the digital and direct marketing and social units throughout the business including executive committees.
      • Monitor development and implementation of media and technology marketing policies and procedures:
      • Develop, implement and monitor systems and procedures necessary to the smooth operation of the digital and direct marketing and social media management.
      • Assist business units in the development and management of regency rules ensuring compliance within parameters as agreed by legal, compliance, risk, excos.
      • Recommend marketing communication standards and policy changes to the Head: Digital and Marketing Analytics.
      • Ensure effective Media optimization and Technology related projects for the business
    • Control all aspects of digital and direct marketing projects including:
      • meeting deadlines,
      • time management,
      • contingency planning,
      • approval channels and procedures,
      • budgeting,
      • campaign analysis, and
      • monitoring procedures;
      • Drive the establishment of project scope, strategy and objectives to internal Clients, production team, key leadership;
      • Lead creative production of online and offline marketing assets from initial concept to finished product and execution.
    • Monitor Risk And Compliance
      • Lead Risk awareness in digital and direct marketing by ensuring that all risks are managed properly and incidents are reported timeously;
      • Partner with Group Compliance to ensure that all marketing activities are compliant with regulatory frameworks;
      • Ensure that mandatory compliance training in digital and direct marketing are driven effectively
      • Develop business continuity plans, strategies and impact assessment plans as well as ensure that these plans are regularly tested ( simulated) and implemented so as to prepare digital and direct marketing is prepared for business disrupting incidents
      • Complete mandatory compliance training

    Preferred Qualification and Experience

    • Degree/Diploma in Digital Marketing
    • More than 7 years marketing experience
