    Learning & Development Manager

    Key Purpose

    To lead the design, delivery and evaluation of learning and development interventions that are aligned to the SAHL people strategy of developing people to full potential and offering them enriching careers. To ensure that learning and development programmes are relevant and adapted to emerging needs posed by a rapidly changing D-VUCAD world. To ensure that learning and development programmes are deployed using the most effective and impactful delivery channels. To lead a team of L&D professionals.

    Key Responsibilities
     
    Implement the Learning and Development Strategy, Policy, Programmes and Plans

    • Implement, review and update Learning and Development policies, processes and procedures.
    • Collaborate with the HR Director to develop the Learning and Development Strategy in alignment with the organisational objectives and future skill requirements.
    • Conduct an effective training needs analysis to input into the learning and development programmes and plans.
    • Ensure alignment between Learning and Development and other Human Resources functions i.e. recruitment, performance management and succession management.
    • Review compiled Workplace Skills Plan (WSP) in line with training needs analysis to address individual learning and development needs, aligned to organisational skills requirements

    Manage the Implementation of Learning and Development

    • Monitor the implementation of the learning and development programmes and plans, inclusive of  bursary and flagship programmes, and ensure alignment to the Learning and Development Strategy.
    • Collaborate with individuals across the business to determine and respond to organisational learning and development requirements.
    • Drive/champion a learning culture at SAHL through a competency-based L&D framework
    • Collaborate with the HR Manager to ensure alignment between L&D competency-based framework and talent and development strategies, processes and systems, so there is an integration of the talent life cycle within the company to build talent depth and enable succession planning for all critical roles.
    • Propose and drive Leadership development interventions which ensure that SAHL has a strong, contemporary and competent leadership team.
    • Establish and maintain relationships with external stakeholders such as SETAs, learning institutions, and external providers.

    Ensure evaluation and continuous improvement

    • Establish appropriate methods to measure success and impact of interventions.
    • Introduce quality control mechanisms to ensure consistent, high quality delivery of staff development interventions.
    • Continually evolve and improve intervention delivery channels.
    • Work collaboratively to maximise input from stakeholders and establish effective relationships.

    Operations Management

    • Review performance contracts for team and conduct performance reviews to measure performance against agreed objectives and identify training needs.
    • Provide guidance, coaching, mentoring and advice to team.
    • Conduct regular scheduled team meetings to discuss updates, process improvements, process changes, and other issues affecting the team.

    Minimum Requirements:
    Qualifications:

    • Honours or postgraduate qualification in Human Resource Management/Organisation Development, Education and Training (OD-ETDP)

    Experience

    • 5-8 years experience establishing and managing learning and development programmes and operations with experience of identifying and acting upon opportunities for continuous improvement and innovation
    • Experience of introducing learning technologies and systems to support the delivery of a broad portfolio of interventions
    • Experience of procurement, contracting and flexible budget management

    Competencies:

    • Ability to design and deliver learning solutions to support key initiatives with demonstrable outcomes
    • Good leadership and managerial skills with the ability to drive high performance and measurable output
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to develop long-term relationships with clients and stakeholders at all levels
    • Ability to design and deliver learning solutions to support key initiatives with demonstrable outcomes
    • Ability to facilitate individual and group learning interventions
