    Shift Instrument Mechanician - Nelspruit

    As a Shift Instrument Mechanician , you will be responsible for:

    • Do proper fault finding, investigate and assess breakdown, think beyond the fix.
    • During work scoping exercise, do proper internal and external resource planning, also identify spares and tools requirements
    • Execute assigned breakdown and opportunity maintenance tasks and comply to breakdown repair/ opportunity maintenance schedule
    • On reporting and communication, report plant defects and / or abnormalities observed whilst repairing equipment.
    • Perform all maintenance tasks, as per generally accepted engineering practices. Comply with rotable procedure.
    • Reporting downtime details to Foreman, enter downtime and feedback on notification/s.
    • Perform basic welding and cutting, fitting and basic rigging.

     What are we looking for?

    • Matric with Maths and Physical Science or N3 Engineering Studies.
    • Recognised Trade Test Certificate as an Instrument Mechanician.
    • 2 Years post-apprenticeship experience with a focus on instrumentation fault finding in an industrial environment would be advantageous.
    • SAP knowledge and proficiency with SAP PM will be advantageous.
    • Valid Driver’s license.

    Technician - Mechanical - Ngodwana

    As a Technician - Mechanical, you will be responsible for:

    • Draws up technical specifications/procedures, Capital and Renewal applications and enquiry documents
    • Adjudicates quotations and is also part of the selection of the successful contractor.
    • Manage Capital and Renewal projects. 
    • Updates plant mechanical drawings in consultation with the plant Foremen.
    • Carry out technical investigations / feasibility studies and investigates maintenance problems, producing reports containing detailed recommendations and changes to maintenance plans
    • Provide specialist maintenance skills (SME) to section (In terms of specific plant and equipment where basic mechanical skills and particularly knowledge is lacking.)
    • Fault finding on plant and equipment not performing to OEM specifications.
    • Fault finding related to plant and equipment causing production stoppages or reduced throughput capacity
    • Work without supervision but keeps Engineer fully informed when necessary.
    • Assists with plant breakdowns where necessary and provide support to plant Foremen, and manage sections pending situations, also carries out standby duties.
    • Responsible for the coordination of all statutory inspections (e.g. structural inspections, pressure vessel inspections, pressurised system inspections, etc.)
    • Observes company safety policies and procedures in accordance with OHS Act and IRCA.
    • Utilise all Sappi systems in the execution of the maintenance strategy and realisation of the objectives.
    • Assist Maintenance Engineer with the preparation of maintenance budget.
    • Execute work on shuts and supervision of work being done during shuts.
    • Investigate the root cause of frequent failures and /or high cost maintenance equipment where after solutions are derived and implemented.

    Plantation Clerk - Carolina

    As an Plantation Clerk, you will be responsible for:

    • Perform audit checks on District Clerks ensuring compliance with petty cash, finance and administration in line with Sappi procedure.
    • Perform regular checks on Diesel bowser at plantations.
    • Ensure Plantation Clerks comply with maintaining an effective office administrative system.
    • Provide back-up for District Clerks with regard to rainfall stats, fires and capture accordingly.

    Temp Reliever PM1 - Ngodwana

    As a Temp Reliever PM1, you will be responsible to:

    • Take and hand over shift.
    • Obtain plant licenses to safely operate process/equipment according to best operating practices.
    • Complete section specific interventions/initiatives as planned and agreed for all the identified positions for the specific section.
    • Relief operators and carry out all tasks prescribed for these positions.
    • Assist the foreman/operating staff at breakdowns and in the supervision of staff when necessary.

    Waste Plant Assistant Operator - Ngodwana

    As a Waste Plant Assistant Operator, you will be responsible for:

    • Receiving and off- loading of waste bales from the trucks. Inspection of incoming waste bales loads.
    • Taking clamp truck for daily inspections.
    • Stacking of waste bales according to size and grade into the correct zones.
    • Rezoning of waste bales according to the Day Shift Supt. instructions.
    • Feeding of waste bales onto the Repulper feed conveyor.
    • Do quality checks of waste bales. Moisture measurements and visual inspections.
    • Cleaning of process rejects bins.
    • Weighbridge ticket collection.
    • General housekeeping of the waste slab.

    Millwright - Ngodwana

     As a Millwright, you will be responsible for: 

    • Executing assigned scheduled and opportunity maintenance tasks.

    • Cover breakdowns after hours and on weekends on a standby basis.
    • Report all defects and equipment risks to the direct supervisor.
    • Scope and plan work orders as required.
    • Draw spares from Stores using the picking list in SAP.
    • Perform any other assigned tasks that fall within the scope of a Millwright.
    • Required to work standby and overtime as required.
    • Share knowledge with other Artisans in the section and in other areas of the plant.
    • Install, test, connect, commission, maintain, and modify electrical equipment, wiring, and control systems as required. Examples include PLC, drives, and control equipment.
    • Perform electrical maintenance or remedial work according to SAP notifications, work orders, and planned schedules, including during shuts.
    • Complete notifications and work orders on the SAP system.
    • Do fault finding on mechanical/ electrical systems during breakdown and effect the required repairs to keep downtime to a minimum.
    • Complete daily and weekly inspections on mechanical/ electrical systems and their components according to a detailed checklist.
    • Identify repairs required and recommend preventative maintenance to the foreman.
    • Perform tests on AC and DC motors to determine the condition of the motor windings, insulation, and core lamination.
    • Prepare status reports and activity logs as required.
    • Understand and comply with the safety, health, environment, and quality (SHEQ) requirements of the section.
    • Comply and perform tasks as per the organisation's policies, procedures, and best operating practices.
    • Participate in the investigation of SHEQ incidents on request and help to identify root causes for non-conformance. 
    • Correct any deviations that relate to maintenance.
    • Maintain a high level of good housekeeping in the workplace at all times.

    What are we looking for?

    • Matric with Maths & Science or NQF Level 4 Qualification
    • Recognised Millwright Trade Certificate (Manpower or SETA accredited)
    • 2 years post apprentice experience

    Forester - Khulisa

    As a Forester (Khulisa), you will be responsible for:

    • Prepare re-establishment Annual Plan Operations (APO) using Total Unplanted (TUP); Silviculture and Harvesting APO to ensure the re-establishment budget is implemented and TUP targets are achieved
    • Prepare land & re-establish (planting and coppice) according to Sappi’s BOP standards and quality expectations using the RMS; APO (silviculture and harvesting) to achieve Temporary Unplanted targets within budget constraints; lower risk exposure and improve efficiencies.
    • Monitor and manage plant use efficiency by tracking consumption against order including confirmed infield plantings to ensure plants are accounted for and costs are within budget
    • Track and monitor seedlings tray movement by keeping an up-to-date record of deliveries at transit nursery and nursery returns to ensure establishments are within budget constraints
    • Prepare maintenance APO using silviculture and harvesting APO together with TUP to ensure that implementation of APO is timeous to keep sots within budget
    • Develop a phased-harvest plan per compartment using the harvesting APO working with both the grower and the contractor to ensure shared responsibility and guarantee rateable Woodfibre supply to the market
    • Conduct a risk assessment per compartment pre- and interim harvesting operation to identify and mitigate potential safety hazards
    • Monitor Woodfibre quality and production rates by conducting interim operational inspections to ensure adherence to daily production targets and Mill quality specifications
    • Assist growers to identify fire associated risks and in implementing fire control measures using RMS to ensure the effective protection of people, plantations and other assets from wild plantation fires
    • Prepare and integrate alien plant management plan in the crop maintenance plan by conducting infield infestation assessment levels to ensure growers’ operations comply with legal requirements
    • Ensure that relations with communities and other internal & external stakeholders are effectively maintained & managed to ensure company image is upheld, risks mitigated, and relationships enhanced.
    • Maintain a professional relationship with suppliers’ service providers, and ensure that quality, delivery and compliance standards as set out in the job instruction system and Sappi BOP standards are adhered to.
