    (947) Senior Business Systems Analyst

    Detailed description

    The successful candidate will be responsible for, among other duties, the following key performance areas:

    • Drive business analysis initiatives and lead a team to find solutions for complex projects.
    • Lead the establishment and maintenance of stakeholder relationships to ensure the efficient running of business systems and the quality of information, defining future business requirements, identifying opportunities for optimisation and developing and proposing solutions.
    • Lead the writing of business specifications and the implementing of system enhancements (business processes, reports, upgrades) in consultation with business and/or other stakeholders.
    • Supervise the maintenance of the integrity of the master data on the Financial Surveillance Reporting System to process end-to-end transactions and mitigate system-related risks. 
    • Advise business and the market about Financial Surveillance Reporting System rule changes in line with policy changes.
    • Provide training and support for internal and external users, including user maintenance and management information.
    • Stay abreast of business/market changes and apply these in the course of own work. 
    • Take responsibility for the quality assurance of the work and outputs of other business analysts.
    • Participate in external industry business analyst forums, contributing to developing and furthering the business analyst body of knowledge (both theoretical and applied).
    • Improve and standardise work processes in the course of own work, and ensure standards and methods are applied within the team.
    • Provide input into team members’ performance evaluations.
    • Lead key strategic projects and activities related to other operational divisional initiatives.
    • Lead various forums (domestic and international) on new developments, research findings and insights from project-related activities. 
    • Provide inputs to the division’s strategy, budgetary requirements for initiatives, mentorship and the allocation of work to junior team members.
    • Actively build relationships and collaborate with relevant South African Reserve Bank stakeholders and other regulators on matters related to the FinSurv’s functions and responsibilities.

    Qualifications

    To be considered for this position, candidates must be in possession of:

    • an Honours degree in Economics, Accounting, Informatics, Statistics, Finance or Banking or an equivalent (NQF 8) qualification; and
    • eight to ten years’ experience within a financial business analysis environment, two of which must be in leading consulting and/or public sector industry teams through various phases of the system development life cycle.
