Media24’s Media Division is seeking an experienced Assistant Accountant. In this role you will manage payroll GL posting, salary bank account reconciliation, and resolution of payroll variances with the Payroll team. The role also manages sundry and ad-hoc invoicing.
This role is onsite and based at our Cape Town office and reports into the Financial Manager.
What You'll Do
Oversee, implement and maintain payroll accounting / administration and internal control processes and procedures;
Identify payroll accounting risks and contribute towards developing and implementing mitigating strategies;
Assist with refining and enhancing payroll reporting for the Media24 group;
Liaise with and assist internal and external auditors as and when needed;
Review and approve payroll journals and reconciliations for Media24 group;
Review schedules and information for allocation of divisional and non-divisional invoicing, charges and recoveries.
Sundry and ad-hoc invoicing;
Review payroll correction and re-allocation journals
Perform Income Statement and Balance Sheet analytics
Provide Internal and External (i.e. Statutory) audit information
Undertake to ensure adequate monitoring and control over query resolution
Perform ad-hoc tasks, including projects and all payroll reconciliation related matters
Liaise with the Payroll Administration, Medical aid and Retirement Funds and well as external 3rd Parties (Discovery, Synrec etc.)
What We're Looking For
Professional Qualification: B Com degree or equivalent
Experience: 3-5 year’s relevant experience;
Thorough understanding of payroll relevant processes;
Knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations;
Knowledge of risk management;
Proficient in relevant software packages and applications.

Good management skills and leadership qualities, proven interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate and influence effectively at all levels whilst working under pressure;
Strong organisational and analytical skills with strong attention to detail and ability to make decisions and judgement calls as needed
Ability to establish and maintain a cohesive work team and apply appropriate supervisory, management, and leadership techniques in an operational setting.
Skill in motivating and directing the work and activities of staff with the ability to effectively delegate;
