    SAIT Trainee | Retail Finance | Tax

    Job Responsibilities

    • As a tax trainee at Allan Gray your primary focus will be to gain practical experience and develop the necessary skills and technical knowledge in the field of South African and international taxation. Some of the key tasks and responsibilities associated with your role as a tax trainee will include the following:
    • Research and analysis
    • Tax returns: You may be required to prepare and review or assist in the preparation and review of corporate tax returns for the various companies, trusts and collective investment schemes within the Allan Group. These tasks could include gathering the necessary financial information, calculating or recalculating taxable income, determining if the deductions, exclusions and tax credits claimed are in accordance with the prevailing tax legislation.  
    • Service teams support: You may assist internal stakeholders or external business stakeholders through client service teams on tax-related matters concerning Allan Gray and its product offering. 
    • Tax planning and advisory: You may participate in tax team projects that involve tax planning and implementation strategies that effect various Allan Gray products, collective investment schemes as well as local and offshore legal entities.
    • Tax monitoring and risk assessment: You may participate in tax monitoring reviews. 
    • Continuous learning and development: As a tax trainee you are expected to stay abreast with the latest tax developments, regulations and industry trends and practices. You’ll be expected to attend and participate in training programs, seminars and other professional development activities 

    Requirements

    • you have a post graduate degree or diploma in taxation
    • you are currently completing a post graduate degree or diploma in taxation
    • your academic average is higher than 70%
    • you are eligible to work in South Africa

    Business Development Manager | IFA Distribution | Kwazulu Natal

    Responsibilities

    Sales, Marketing and Relationship Building:

    • To manage and develop relationships with IFAs and their support staff
    • To maintain and grow business flows from their designated IFA panels
    • To deliver against determined sales targets
    • To ensure IFA’s have a deep understanding of the philosophy and long-term goals of Allan Gray
    • To promote Allan Gray, the products, and services to their IFA panel
    • To ensure that the IFA and their support staff are trained on all Allan Gray’s systems and processes.   
    • To manage the distribution and supply of all marketing collateral to IFAs.
    • Do presentations to IFA’s and their clients when required, and to take responsibility for the efficient co-ordination of the events. 
    • Arrange and over-see the co-ordination of IFA Presentations (In house/externally). 
    • To ensure the highest standard of service excellence for all Allan Gray Financial Advisers and Clients.
    • To identify trends in the industry, conduct competitor analysis and ensure opportunities are exploited. 

    Operations and Administration:

    • Strong marketing and relationship building skills. 
    • To manage and develop existing and new relationships with IFA’s and their support staff.
    • To maintain and grow business flows from their designated IFA panels and deliver against determined production targets.
    • To ensure IFA’s understand the philosophy and long-term goals of Allan Gray, promoting all products and services offered. 
    • To ensure that the IFA's and their support staff understand Allan Gray systems and processes, providing training to them when required. 
    • Present to IFA’s and their clients when required, take responsibility for the efficient co-ordination of events and functions. 
    • To ensure the highest standard of service excellence for all Allan Gray financial advisors and clients.
    • To identify trends in the industry, conduct competitor analysis and ensure that opportunities are exploited.
    • To keep and maintain a record of all management information of the IFA practice, including the structure, business plan and marketing plans. 
    • To develop and maintain an annual strategic and business plan and to execute against that plan.
    • Solve and manage queries on an on-going basis
    • To pro-actively report back to the IFA and support staff on the tracking of all new business, queries, outstanding requirements, assets under management, and all ad hoc requests.
    • Report on your progress against targets and tracking of your business plan objectives to the Regional Manager.
    • To advise the Regional Manager of any incident that might compromise the values of Allan Gray.
    • To arrange visits by the Regional Manager to the panel of IFA's.
    • To ensure the cost-effective running of the panel of IFA's.
    • To liaise with relevant persons and divisions at Allan Gray head office, to ensure delivery of their responsibilities. 
    • To keep and maintain a portfolio of evidence of all daily activities for presentation purposes to a panel of assessors once a year as required by the BDM competency model.

    Education

    • A relevant business degree with a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) qualification would be advantageous.

    Accountant | Group Finance | Africa ex-SA

    Main Responsibilities

    • The accounting function for the entity comprises
    • Preparation of cash book entries and payments, if required
    • Reviewing of payments
    • Reviewing cash book entries and receipt of fee income
    • Preparing monthly journal entries
    • Preparing and reviewing of credit card journals and entries

    Reporting is required as follows

    • Management information (for company and used for group consolidated reporting)
    • Monthly preparation of AFS, management income statement
    • Monthly analysis of income (versus budget and versus assets)
    • Monthly capital adequacy monitoring for reporting to MD
    • Regulatory reporting
    • Quarterly and annual reporting
    • Any other ad hoc regulatory reporting requirements and assistance
    • Tax reporting of the different entities (Namibia, Botswana)
    • Returns (and payments) for VAT (pending amendments), income tax, WHT
    • Tax follow ups with authorities

    Board

    • Preparation of financial reports for the directors’ meeting

    Education and Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree in accounting (BCom, BAccSc, BCompt or relevant)
    • Financial services experience preferred, preferably 3-5 years post qualification
