Job Responsibilities

• Stakeholder Management and Engagement
• Manage relationships with all stakeholders of the projects
• ensure stakeholders are kept up to date with all key aspects of the project including, performance progress, budget, risks, resources requirements and projects schedules.
• Leads and manages execution of projects ensuring effective delivery of expected outcomes within agreed timelines.
• Ensures project charter, project scope, goals deliverables and key measurements are in place and agreed with project sponsors and line manager.
• Effective management of project resources, professionals ensuring their role clarity and understanding of expected outcomes.
• Efficient management of budget and risk
• Coordinating with cross-discipline team members to make sure that all parties are on track with project requirements, deadlines, and schedules.
• Establish deadlines, monitors and reports on project progress, problems and solutions
• Lead quality assurance
• confirm project deliverables and ensuring that they adhere to quality standards
• Implement and manage change when necessary to meet project outputs
• Conduct performance evaluation and assess results of the project
• Ensures governance structure is in place and prepares reports governance documentation to ensure tracking of project
• Ensure delivery of project is aligned to Postbank accepted project management methodologies
• Ensure the efficient management and control of functions/resources in accordance with the stipulations of the PFMA, fraud prevention and risk management principles, corporate governance, legislation, company policies, processes, regulations, Delegation of Authority, etc.

Requirements

Qualifications and experience:

• NQF level 7 qualification or Honours degree in Project Management
• PMP or equivalent project management qualification association membership
• Minimum of 4 years’ experience, demonstrable experience of successful project and portfolio management.
• Experience in management of IT and related projects
• Financial/banking sector experience
• Budget management experiences
• Ability to complete projects in a timely manner

Job Responsibilities

• Maintain business applications (1st, 2nd and 3rd level)
• Handle change requests and provide quick and efficient solutions
• Research how IT systems are used and look at ways to improve use and efficiency
• Review and develop computer systems, computer languages, data communication processes and user interface devices
• Test new IT system designs and fix design problems found
• Test new system components
• Write reports describing findings, sometimes for publication
• Use data modelling to generate different possible solutions as a means of finding the best result for the client
• Analyse system components and monitors data flow to improve efficiency
• Liaise with business for clarification of client requirements
• Produce definitions, process flow documentation, rules and instructions as a basis for the work of designers and programmers
• Liaise with Systems Engineering department in preparing other detailed documentation, including hardware specifications and tender specifications
• Help with client-site installation activities
• Present all documentation to and assist the Design team during the solution design
• Negotiate timelines for the development and implementation of each project
• Establish business and technical specifications with respect to business systems and according to client specification
• Record all system documentation and update all changes thereto

Role Requirements:

Qualifications:

• National Diploma in Computer Technology (NQF Level 6) or Degree in Computer Sciences or Information Technology
• B-degree in Computer Science OR Information systems (NQF Level 7). MS Certification (supplier course or equivalent - MSCD); Business Analysis or Business / Systems Engineering courses attended will be an added advantage 

Experience:

• Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in object-oriented development e.g. .Net Framework or J2EE
• Minimum 3 years (within 5 year) in analysis and design: Business system analysis procedure formulation and integration; Technical and Management reporting; Systems analysis and configuration management; System owner and user liaison
• Valid Code B Driving Licence

• Develop and implement a comprehensive data management strategy aligned with the bank’s business goals.

Data Architecture and Infrastructure

• Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of the bank’s data architecture.
• Collaborate with IT teams to ensure data systems and platforms are scalable, secure, and efficient.
• Evaluate and implement data management technologies and tools.

Data Quality and Integrity

• Lead efforts to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and reliability across the organization.
• Develop and enforce data quality standards and metrics.
• Implement data cleansing and validation processes.
• Team Leadership and Development
• Build and manage a high-performing data management team, including data governance, data architecture, data scientists and data quality professionals.
• Provide mentorship, training, and career development opportunities to team members.
• Foster a collaborative and innovative team culture.

Collaboration and Stakeholder Management

• Work closely with business units to understand their data needs and challenges.
• Partner with IT, risk, and compliance teams to ensure data management aligns with broader organizational goals.
• Communicate data management strategies and progress to executive leadership.

Risk Management

• Identify and mitigate risks related to data management, including data breaches and unauthorized access.
• Ensure data management practices align with the bank’s risk management framework.

Innovation and Continuous Improvement

• Stay abreast of industry trends and advancements in data management.
• Continuously improve data management practices and processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
• Drive innovation in data usage, including the implementation of advanced analytics and AI-driven insights.

Data Lifecycle management and Metadata management

• Ensure policies, processes and standards exist for data lifecycle management (i.e. Management of data from creation to deletion) and for metadata management
• Ensure metadata is up-to-date and accessible

Master Data Management

• Ensure policies, processes and standards exist for master data management
• Drive the centralization of key data (like customer information and product data) and ensure it is consistent across the bank.

Data Integration

• Ensure that data required to provide BI is combined from different sources to provide a unified view for Analytics team to utilize.
• Focus areas to achieve this include ETL processes, provision of data lakes, APIs and data synchronization between systems.

 
Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge and understanding of:

• Completed a Post B-Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Management, Engineering or related field (NQF8)
• Completed or studying towards a master’s qualification
• At least 10 years’ experience in implementing and managing a data management function
• + 5 years banking or financial industry experience
• Proven track record of developing and implementing data management strategies and governance frameworks.
• Strong understanding of data management tools and technologies (e.g., SQL, ETL processes, data lakes, cloud platforms).
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to data management and privacy.
• Proficiency in data analytics and business intelligence tools.
• Strong understanding and experience with data architecture design, data warehousing, and data integration.
• Understanding of business operations and banking industry
