    Senior Survey Officer - Musina

    Your responsibilities will include:

    Co-ordinate the Survey program, taking cognizance of mine standards and objectives by:

    • Investigating new technology in computerized and electronic survey fields in order to improve efficiency and cost effectiveness.
    • Preparing month-end production sheets and sign off as appropriate.
    • Monitoring ore extraction and movement figures.
    • Designing layouts using CAD for optimum safety, production and extraction of reserves in consultation with the Chief Surveyor.
    • Planning the excavation and effecting the surveying thereof, in conjunction with the Chief Surveyor, using 3D modelling Software.
    • Computation of mineral resources.
    • Digital terrain models in respect of month-end figures and land management.
    • Co-ordinating terrestrial and digital photography for the compilation of electronic plans by pre-planning areas to be mapped with control points and base calculations.
    • Planning and preparing daily, monthly and yearly forecasts in conjunction with planning department.
    • Carrying out critical, short and long- term planning in collaboration with the planning department and the Chief Surveyor in order to achieve goals.
    • Performing Advanced Total Station and GPS Surveys, Capital and Primary Development Surveys (Shaft Sinking and Development).
    • Performing month-end Tachometric Surveys and level profiling.
    • Providing geotechnical, geological structural mapping and draughting services, taking cognizance of Mine standards and objectives inter alia:
    • Managing the survey database to control the integrity of electronic data captured by conducting manual and computer checks.
    • Preparing reports and returns for the Inspectorate.
    • Compiling survey layouts as per code of practice.
    • Supervising the staking and reducing re-drilling of holes and "as drilled" blasting patterns.
    • Performing surface and underground survey and borehole survey functions and liaising with geotechnical, geology, environmental (ventilation), production and planning departments.
    • Quantifying weekly and monthly production and compiling monthly production reports.
    • Monitoring actual production statistics against budget by keeping accurate records.
    • Building relationships across Venetia Mine by sharing business support and appropriate information and knowledge.
    • Mentoring and developing subordinates according to the set training criteria.
    • Assigning work and monitoring the adherence by service provider according to the scope or work as determined in the service level agreements.
    • Ensuring adherence to Security and Safety program goals and objectives.
    • Ensuring adherence to the Company's Environmental Management Program and that objectives are implemented according to statutory legislation and the Strategic Management Plan.
    • This role is in the VUP Survey department at a GBF 7 level reporting to the Mine Surveyor

    Qualifications:

    Qualifications Required:

    • Grade 12 certificate or equivalent NQF level 4 qualification; and
    • National Diploma Mine / Land / Engineering Surveying or Advanced Chamber of Mines (Survey and Valuation) Certificates.
    • Valid EB / Code 8 Drivers License.
    • BTech Degree Mineral Resource Management or any other relevant (Advantageous)

    Experience Required:

    • Minimum 3 year’s Relevant experience underground Mine Surveying experience.
    • Microstation / CAD knowledge and experience.
    • Experience in Leica, Maptek, Trimble, Modelmaker, Geoslam and any other surveying related software and hardware.
    • Knowledge of relevant legislation.

    Senior Scheduling Engineer - Musina

    Key Responsibilities Include but no limited to:

    • Demonstrate underground trackless mining technical and conceptual excellence in anticipating problems and guiding the team to deliver agreed departmental and business goals to ensure the value of the business is maintained or improved.
    • Responsible for delivering the integrated weekly 7 – 21 day rolling schedule to enable the Venetia Underground Project to achieve and surpass expectations for planning, reporting, and execution.
    • Co-ordinate all relevant contractors and work groups to produce quality draft Weekly 7-21 Rolling Schedules in accordance with appropriate timeframes.
    • Optimise and incorporate all VUP draft 7-21 RS into a fully integrated VUP 7-21 Rolling Schedule that enables the achievement of 3-month rolling schedule.
    • Mine Production monitoring and reporting on performance to plan and definition of actions for correction of variances to plan.
    • Monitoring and reporting of the mining contractor compliance to plan & prompt instruction of corrective actions to return to plan. Chair weekly retrospective on previous weeks performance and action items with clear dates and responsibilities to recover lost opportunities or maintain gains achieved.
    • Monitors Contractor compliance to plan and design and assists and guides the Underground Mining Superintendents (Mine Overseer’s) in defining and issuing clear instructions to the Mining Contractor to ensure corrective actions are promptly executed.
    • Coordination and scheduling of underground construction, engineering to ensure that projects are planned and executed in such a manner as to not negatively impact production and development.
    • Analysis of mining and automation data to identify and pursue opportunities for continuous improvement and productivity uplift including application of Short Interval Control.
    • Input into the wet season management plan and associated infrastructure.
    • Coordination and quality assurance of underground project work to ensure that projects are planned and executed in such a manner as to not negatively impact production and development.
    • Working closely with interdepartmental personnel initiating, planning, and implementing strategies to maximise operational efficiency.

    Qualifications:

    Qualifications & Experience

    • Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering or other relevant technical qualification.
    • Valid EB/Code 8 Drivers License

    Role-specific Experience, Knowledge & Skills:

    • Previous operational / technical experience within a modern underground trackless mining operation – at least 3 years in underground hard rock mining highly regarded.
    • Experience in short/medium term planning in underground operations is desirable.
    • Experience in an Operational Leadership role (Shift Boss, Miner) is not essential but would be highly regarded.
    • Experience in driving best practices through your department and into the business.
    • Track record in driving continuous improvement.
    • Software experience with Micro Soft Excel, Word and PowerPoint is a requirement.
    • Experience in mine planning design software such as Deswik, Vulcan and procurement enablers, SAP are highly desirable, but this will not be a barrier for a strong applicant.

    Clerk of Works – Civil/ Structural - Musina

    Job Description:

    • Preparation of Civil / structural engineering technical aspects relating to underground SIB.
    • Provide engineering construction support to Superintendent projects: civil / structural / mechanical.
    • Implementation of relevant civil / structural project initiatives in accordance with the SIB master project plan over the life of mine.
    • Implementation of civil / structural engineering efforts to meet DeBeers Group and Anglo-American standards, specifications, and procedures throughout the Life of Mine (LOM).
    • Support successful project delivery within cost and schedule baselines.
    • Maintain and ensure a safe and healthy working environment.
    • Demonstrate corporate values, code of business & conduct.
    • Ensuring compliance with applicable SHE policies and procedures.
    • Adhere to legislative & corporate compliance requirements.
    • Ensure adherence to approved budgeted expenditure.
    • Assist in compiling relevant costing for the purchase of relevant equipment (where required).
    • Civil & structural engineering activities based on relevant construction requirements taking specific materials requirements into account.
    • Understanding & knowledge of structural erections e.g., torque settings, back markings, drawing detail, survey alignment, civil / structural engineering drawings.
    • Ensure compliance with document control standards and procedures as well as quality of documentation, drawings and associated metadata.
    • Implementation of project designs
    • Application of engineering process methodology and implementation of project standards
    • Enforcing quality management
    • Budget control with Package Manager
    • Schedule implementation & progress reporting
    • Method statements, Risk assessments & Contract management

    Qualifications:

    • National Diploma in Civil & Structural with Minimum of 5 years’ experience (Civil / Structural Engineering & Construction) or in a similar environment
    • Valid EB / Code 8 Drivers License

    Role-specific knowledge & Experience:

    • Experience with Mine shafts, & underground construction, preferred.
    • Draughtsman experience
    • Construction / Engineering project management
    • MS Word, excel, powerpoint, computer aided design & drafting systems.
    • Knowledge of drafting techniques
    • Understanding engineering & construction theory & standards
    • Communication & problem-solving skills.
    • Attention to detail.  Planning & organizing skills.
