    Head of Faculty: Education

    The South African College of Applied Psychology (SACAP) is the leading independent provider of education in psychology, counselling and coaching, offering accredited undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications.

     

    The Head of Faculty for Education is a senior academic officer of SACAP and carries overall responsibility for the establishment and growth of the Education Faculty, as well as the quality of all programmes that fall within the Faculty. This includes successfully launching all new programmes, as well as driving all new programme applications.

     

    The Head of Faculty is a content expert within their field and oversees all curriculum development and amendments for programmes within the Education Faculty. The Head of Faculty works with the Dean’s Office to ensure accountability for all regulatory requirements of the CHE, SAQA, the DHET and all professional bodies relevant to the Faculty. The Head of Faculty works alongside the campus academic team members in order to ensure the quality of programme delivery on each campus. The Head of Faculty seeks to network extensively within the public and private higher education and school sector, as well as industry, both nationally and internationally in order to expand the academic reputation of SACAP.

     

    Responsibilities

    • Responsibility for the overall strategy, establishment and growth of the Education Faculty and its programmes.

    • Collaborating with the Research & Development Department on all new programme applications.

    • Explore opportunities for partnerships with other Higher Education Institutions and Schools.

    • Network with external stakeholders to expand the Faculty & SACAP’s influence in the Higher Education and Schools landscape.

    • Has responsibility for all Faculty financial planning, sustainability, resource allocation, the identification ofpossible external sources of income from department workshops, seminars etc.

    • Provides support to the Head of Teaching and Learning (HoTL) with regard to Educator/Supervisor recruitment and selection for the Education Faculty.

    • Provides support to the Head of Work Integrated Learning (WIL) with regard to rolling out the Faculty’s vision for the WIL component of programmes in the Faculty.

    • Responsible for the successful launch of all new programmes in the Faculty.

    • Responsible for ensuring the overall quality of the curriculum and assessments, as well as the delivery of all programmes in the Education Faculty.

    • Works with the Dean’s Office to ensure accountability for all regulatory requirements of the CHE, SAQA, the DHET and relevant professional bodies for existing and new programmes.

    • Oversees the fulfilment of all academic quality assurance practices and processes as per the quality assurance policy of SACAP across the Faculty.

    • Promotes a culture of teaching/learning within the Faculty and alongside the HoTL that is directed at student needs, and of teaching that is informed by research and best practice.

    • Engages in Supervision and/or Teaching.

    • Advises the Academic Dean on all aspects of Faculty development and academic functions.

    • Works closely with marketing in the production of marketing material and website content.

     

    Qualifications and Experience

    • At least a Master’s level qualification in Education.

    • Particular knowledge of and interest in the exciting developments at the intersections of innovation, education and technology in areas such as inclusive Education; Learning Design; Online Pedagogy; Educational Technology; and Education Management.

    • Experience in Academic Leadership in Higher Education.

    • Experience in industry related to the subject matter of the Faculty.

    • Experience in Curriculum Design and Quality Assurance.
