Senior Economist at DNA Economics

The position will require the applicant to lead and undertake technical research, manage and quality assure research projects, oversee project teams and drive business development in the broad trade, regional integration and industrial policy fields.

The successful candidate will be based in our offices in Pretoria.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements to be considered:

• A master’s degree, ideally in economics, but DNA will also consider degrees in statistics, development studies, and other social science master’s degrees with a strong quantitative component;
• At least 5 years of relevant professional work experience (in one of the above-mentioned fields);
• Experience in managing research projects and teams;
• Good quantitative and analytical skills;
• Excellent writing and communication skills;
• Intermediate to advanced proficiency in MS Office Applications (Word, Excel and PowerPoint);
• Willing to travel in South Africa and sub Saharan Africa; and
• Legally able to work in South Africa.

Ideally, applicants should also have experience in engaging and interacting with a range of clients and stakeholders including from the South African public sector, regional institutions (such as the SADC and SACU Secretariats) and international donor agencies (e.g. USAID, GIZ, EU).
