    National Risk Officer - Legal (Western Cape)

    Description
    BDO has a vacancy for a National Risk Officer-Legal. 

    The successful incumbent will:

    • Draft and negotiate contracts.
    • Review existing contracts.
    • Contract management.
    • Ad hoc support.

    Ensure compliance with various laws:

    • Review various company practices and processes to ensure that the company's compliance, particularly pertaining to the company's specific business.
    • Make recommendations on improving efficiencies.
    • Work with various different committees to improve company structure, governance and compliance

    Professional service delivery:

    • Negotiate, draft, review and vet contracts to meet the company’s requirements and ensure that these are aligned with corporate governance precepts - disclosure, transparency, risk management, regulatory requirements etc.
    • Provide strategic legal advice, negotiate legal agreements, and draft the relevant legal documents.
    • Identify the impact of changes in legislation, regulations and codes of practice on internal legal processes and policies.
    • Proactively review applicable legislation and case law and remain up to date with legal trends.
    • Analyse company policies and, where applicable, provide solutions that will ensure compliance with legislation and business imperatives.

    Stakeholder relationship management:

    • Interact with Group business units, other Group functions and external stakeholders on legal matters and disputes.
    • Interact with the company's customers and suppliers and their Legal Advisors and Attorney.

    Requirements 

    • LLB Degree. 
    • Admitted Attorney. 
    • 3 to 5 years post qualification work experience as a Legal Advisor and Legal Risk Management. 
    • MS Office Suite at Advanced Level. 
    • Previous experience in audit, advisory and tax firm is beneficial.
    • Data Privacy experience

    ICT Infrastructure Expert (Gauteng)

    Primary Purpose of the Job:

    • The ICT Infrastructure Expert manages BDO's ICT infrastructure, including NUTANIX administration, Azure cloud services, and enterprise applications like SAGE (ESS) and ERP systems (Maconomy). The role ensures high availability, performance, and security of ICT systems.

    Main Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Infrastructure Management: Administer and maintain NUTANIX, Azure, and enterprise applications.
    • Virtualisation & Cloud Services: Manage virtualized environments and optimise cloud solutions.
    • Network & Security: Oversee network performance and implement security measures.
    • System Integration: Ensure seamless integration and support of SAGE, Maconomy, and other systems.
    • Disaster Recovery: Develop and test business continuity and recovery solutions.
    • Performance Optimisation: Monitor and optimize ICT resource performance.
    • Documentation: Maintain accurate infrastructure documentation and reporting.
    • Support & Collaboration: Provide technical support and mentor junior staff.

    Requirements
    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or related field. Relevant certifications will be an added advantage.

    Experience:

    • 10+ years of experience in ICT infrastructure management.
    • Proven experience managing NUTANIX infrastructure (Hyperconverged infrastructure, Prism, Acropolis).
    • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure administration and cloud services.
    • Familiarity with SAGE (ESS) and ERP systems (Maconomy) or similar enterprise applications.
    • Experience with networking (LAN/WAN), virtualisation (Hyper-V, VMware), and storage solutions.
    • Certifications:
    • NUTANIX Certified Professional (NCP)
    • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator
    • VMware Certified Professional
    • Certifications related to ERP systems (e.g., SAGE, Maconomy) would be advantageous.

    Job Skills and Competencies:

    • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
    • Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

    Experienced Auditor (JHB Illovo)

    Purpose of the role:

    • The Experienced Auditor’s role is to execute risk-based audits in accordance with the firm’s audit methodology. The candidate would be reporting to an Audit Senior and/or Audit Manager/Audit Partner and would be responsible for conducting an audit from planning through to completion.  The Experienced Auditor would be responsible for the audit team and execution.  This role is required to execute audit procedures and/or review the work of junior personnel, as well as developing their skills and providing training and support.

    Key responsibilities:

    An Experienced Auditor will be expected to carry out any or all of the following tasks:

    • Identify risk matters to the business
    • Schedule, plan and complete risk-based audits
    • Report and present findings to the business, making recommendations for solutions and improvements to policies/procedures
    • Understand the commercial objectives of the business and the impact made by the audit
    • Liaise with client Finance Officers
    • Ensure the business complies with all relevant internal requirements, industry regulations and government legislation
    • Lead, manage and develop the team of junior auditors
    • Assist with other audit matters and projects
    • Audit execution

    Requirements:

    • Passed CTA or a relevant B. Comm Financial degree
