MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Grade 10 / Standard 8 Certificate.
- Certificate: Blasting for Scheduled Mines or
- National Certificate: Hard Rock Underground.
- Code 08 (B) Driver’s Licence.
- Advantageous: Competent A & B Certificate.
- Advantageous: Blasting Assistant Certificate.
EXPERIENCE (including but not limited to):
- 2 years trackless mining experience.
- Advantageous: 2 years mining experience.
DUTIES (including but not limited to):
- To ensure the effective operation of all blasting and mining activities during a shift. To supervise team activities whilst ensuring safe practices and continuous inspection of working place conditions. Planning to achieve operational targets and monitoring the availability of resources.
- Testing for gases by using appropriate instruments, check ventilation and, if necessary, evacuate team. Ensure that the working areas are safe through conducting early visual and other examinations. Disconnecting of blasting systems. Ensure and oversee the barring of the hanging wall, sidewalls and face. Ensure the watering down of the workplace. Monitor ventilation flow and control. Install temporary support by marking, and deploying rigs, remote operations. Oversee the installation of temporary support according to the required standard. Check sockets for any indication of misfires. Deal with substandard/ hazardous conditions and unsafe working practices. Ensure that pre-use inspections are done on equipment.
- Marking off of permanent support patterns. Oversee the installation of permanent [and temporary] support according to the required standard.
- Check the barring of the face. Demarcate and remove misfires according to the required standard. Oversee and ensure the cleaning and plugging of sockets. Place old explosives in elephant bag and lock in old explosives box according to standard. Demarcate any geological features. Assess face shape, dimensions and results of previous blast. Install/ extend direction and limit lines from survey pegs. Mark the face according to required standard.
- Ensure preparation of drilling equipment to the required standard. Oversee and ensure the compliance to indicated marks, direction lines and depth of holes. Ensure that the correct PPE is being used in drilling operations. Ensure installations of roof bolts are according to the required standard. Oversee and ensure mid-shift barring is done according to the required standards.
- Test work area for flammable gases according to the required standards. Collect the required amount and type of explosives according to hole dimensions. Control explosives and prepare working area to standard to ensure safe and effective blasting. Check and ensure the de-sludging of shot holes before charging up. Charge shot holes according to the required standards. Attach explosive accessories. Test of blasting wires. Deal with excess explosives and accessories according to the required standard.
- Adhere to waiting place procedures. Checking the storing of tools, material and equipment to the required standard and procedures. Report any sub-standard deviations/defects to the Shift Overseer. Adhere to blasting procedures at the end of the shift according to the required mine standards and procedures. Complete night shift/day shift communication book. Report all incidents / accidents to the Control Room or Shift Overseer. Ensure all equipment is according to required standard. Ensure proper housekeeping.
- Immediately report accident/incident to Control Room and Shift Overseer. Investigating relevant issues. Completion of accident/incident reports. Communicate and/or implement preventative measures. Follow up on implementation of preventative measures

EXPERIENCE (including but not limited to):
- 1 year practical underground mining experience e.g. Pump Attendant/ PTW/ Belt Attendant/ Rock breaker.
- Advantageous: 6 months practical experience as Blasting Assistant.
DUTIES (including but not limited to):
- Ensure involvement with face preparation before drilling a face. Preparation and transportation of explosives. Responsible for charging up the round prior to blasting.
- Create a safe work area and good housekeeping. Conduct early examination. Water down after blasting. Examine the face. Wash sockets. Clean the face with a shovel. Demarcate the geological features. Assist with measurements and direction lines. Treating of misfires under supervision. Adhere to current operating procedure requirements.
- Ensure receipt of explosives order from Miner, hand in at Magazine, receive explosives and transport to section.
- Dislodging of the drill holes and charging up with explosives. Timing and assistance with connecting of blast.

DUTIES (including but not limited to):
- To safely operate the Roof-bolter within designated areas and in accordance with set operating procedures and standards in order to achieve production objectives.
- Operate the Roof-bolter by adhering to operating procedures and standards to achieve production requirements. Monitor continuously component performance through experience, observation against standards to identify sub-standard performance, non-conformance and/or deviations. Report above to supervisor for corrective action measures.
- Conduct pre-shift inspection of Roofbolter machine, machine parts and/or components of the production line to ensure production flow according to standards, within prescribed procedures.
- Follow lock-out procedure when equipment is faulty, and at end of shift, including failure time recorded and location of machine / equipment.
- Perform minor maintenance on Roofbolter by greasing the boom, checking oil, loose fittings, pipes, broken shank, and changing consumables. Report all other maintenance issues to artisan. Maintain proper operation and care of machine as per manufacturer’s specifications, and standard operating procedures.

- Degree / BTech Metallurgical Engineering / Extractive Metallurgy / Chemical Engineering.

EXPERIENCE (including but not limited to):
- 3 – 4 years in a mine / plant / production environment, with 2-3 years management experience.
- 3 - 4 years PGM and Chrome Processing Plants working experience.
DUTIES (including but not limited to):
- Manage production processes and asset performance to achieve production targets safely and cost-effectively. To ensure production processes comply with Mine, Health and Safety Act and other relevant legislative requirements.
Financial Perspective:
- Contribute to annual departmental budget planning by compiling operational, capex and labour budgets for sub-function and submit to line management for approval.
- Manage effectively sub-function and its objectives in line with approved budgets (operational, capex and labour), report variances as required and recommend / implement remedial action within span of control.
- Review and authorise payments in line with approved budget and policy and submit for final processing.
- Identify operational, labour and capex requirements within sub-function for efficient delivery of targets and submit recommendations to line manager.

MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Grade 12/Standard 10 Certificate.
EXPERIENCE (including but not limited to):
- 1 year Material handling Exposure in a Mining / Plant Environment.
DUTIES (including but not limited to):
- Ensure all operations and activities related to Materials handling and stores issuing are processed in a timeous and accurate manner to meet production / operational and service department needs.
- Daily checking of physical stock. Issuing of materials by receiving correct documentation, issue and update system. Sorting, binning and stacking of materials. Capturing of picking slips into the computer system and filing. Daily stock control and stock-taking. Receiving and issuing of wide range of stock items. Good housekeeping. Raise requisition as necessary to order for items at low stock levels to be ordered.
- All documents such as binning slips and pick slips are filed (physically and electronically) for stock and non-stock items.
- Correct procedures are followed when receiving hazardous and non-hazardous material. All material received is stored safely according to set specifications in a designated area. Gas cylinders are binned in the Gas Store according to SHERQ requirements. Hazardous materials like paint and Hydrochloric Acid are unloaded directly at their respective stores during the receiving process. For safety reasons arsenic is binned in the arsenic store on the same day as it is received. Ensuring that TMM and Mining stores are locked at all times. Compliance to key control measures.
- Ensure good housekeeping of relevant stores area. Ensure good stacking of materials according to procedure.
