- The WSP Africa Power and Energy team is seeking a competent and responsible OHL Design Engineer to join the team. Key Role:
- The incumbent will perform designs using the following vendor’s suites of engineering software tools:
- Autodesk Suite – Roads, earthworks and pipe network modelling using Autodesk Civil3D, and CAD production thereof using AutoCAD, together with document management using Autodesk Construction Cloud.

- Design of Civil infrastructure using Civil3D (Roads, pipe networks, bulk earthworks etc.);
- Provide technical input from initial assessment through technical and economic feasibility to design development and construction implementation to project close out
- Carry out investigations, surveys, design, engineering calculations and preparation of working drawings and estimates
- Review overall project design and suggest technical and design improvements
- Assist with the preparation of cost estimates on project designs
- Detail oriented with strong skills in municipal Infrastructure and roads
- Ability to work in a team environment and must have excellent verbal and written skills

Qualifications
- BEng. / BSc (Civil Engineering) or BTech (Civil Engineering)
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in Civil Engineering Design (Roads, pipe networks, bulk earthworks etc)
- Registered as a Candidate Engineer with ECSA; Professional Registration will be advantageous

Key Role:
- WSP South Africa is looking for an experienced and passionate Registered Professional Civil Engineer with water infrastructure design experience, who will function as a senior design engineer and project manager for infrastructure projects in Africa/Middle East and able to support the international business as required
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Design of water related infrastructure using Civil3D.
- Analysis of flood systems using Hec-Ras (2D) or the like.
- Hydrological modelling using Hec-HMS, InfoDrainage (optional), PCSWMM is a requirement. Similar software is an advantage.
- Design of sanitation systems will be an advantage as well in water distribution networks.
- Urban Design capabilities which may include geometric and road designs. Knowledge of drainage designs for mining environments will be an advantage.
- Project management and interfacing with other engineering disciplines on multi-disciplinary projects
- Provide technical input from initial assessment through technical and economic feasibility to design development and construction implementation to project close out
- Carry out investigations, design, engineering calculations and preparation of working drawings and estimates
- Review overall project design and suggest technical and design improvements
- Assist with the preparation of cost estimates on project designs
- Keep up to date with industry advances, and be aware of policy and technical developments in this discipline
- Review technical submissions, assessing technical risks and proposing mitigation strategies to reduce risk exposure in project
- Assist with and/or conduct any other necessary aspects of a project that fall within the discipline of the role.
- Monitoring project construction and acceptance including site visits and commissioning supervision; and

- B Tech / BEng or BSc Civil Engineering
- Professional Registration (PrEng/ Pr Tech Eng)

- Extensive experience with the Civil 3D Suite
- Proven competence in Water infrastructure Engineering Design
- Experience as Project Manager and/or Engineering Management
